"rosen Will Have To Earn The Starting Position"

Tampa also had an elite receiver core though, az had an old Fitzgerald and a running back coming off a major injury.
Agreed … but the production was so far apart I don't see Rosen starting. And honestly, I don't think he should. If we're investing a 2nd into this kid, we should give him a chance. That means him and the team learning the system before throwing him into the deep end of the pool. Remember when Gase arrived, the offense was tremendously better after the first 5 weeks. That was with the same personnel. I'm expecting a similar learning curve for the team this year … and I'd prefer Rosen to come in after the rest of the offense has bumbled its way to competency.

IMHO, it really is the best chance we can give Rosen. In Arizona he was thrown into the deep end of the pool with a supporting cast that didn't get it done, and he failed miserably. There's no need to do that to him again.

The same “geniuses” who though we were tanking this year think that Rosen is the guaranteed starter. Rosen last year Any/a under 3 and Fitzpatrick over 8. They aren’t even close to being the same level.
Rosen sits for a year or two.

Say whatever the hell you want to the public.

You give this kid the majority of the starting reps and you give him sixteen games. Ryan Fitzpatrick is a career journeyman who is in his twilight as a pro football player. There is absolutely no ****ing point to starting him whatsoever, unless you think Rosen is going to be so bad that the team will go 0-16 and you want to avoid that stigma. And I don't think they think he's that bad based on the fact that they traded a second round pick for him.

If you don't start Josh Rosen for 16 games (assuming healthy), then this coaching staff ought to be pilloried.
I agree and if fitz is cool being a backup keep him a year but it really makes no sense to keep him now I really think he will be cut soon and they will develop falk or another youth to back him up.

There's no need to do that to him again.

Say what you want about Rosen, but I don't think he's mentally fragile enough for this to break him. So that's just a bunch of starter reps he can get with no pressure on him to win. Because let's face it, there's no pressure on anyone to win this season. Also, starting him makes the season significantly more interesting for the fans.

Rosen need start. So they can see what they got. Fitz is old man. You wasting time w him. Fitz go get replace any way.

completely agree, im just not sure coaching staffs are afforded this much time anymore in this show me now league. remember when it was common practice that qbs sit behind vets for a few years? this just doenst happen anymore, even flaaco got benched last year because there patience ran out and hes a wayyyyy better passer then jackson.

So last night I stayed up late, went back and watched every Rosen snap from last season. All of his good and bad throws. I had to get an opinion on him.

I was someone coming in who liked the kid, and I am coming out someone who emphatically LOVES the kid. Now I'm not saying he is going to be a star, however he is definitely without a doubt the best pure passer we have had in the building in a very long time.

Go back and watch even the first few games, and you will see so many dropped passes, and so many plays that you will rewind and say "wow, can't believe he fit that window".

I am more than excited, and for a 2nd round pick and little cost this could not be a better deal for us

Well that formula failed miserably last year. In fact, it couldn't have failed worse. Not sure why we would do that again.

Confidence is a big thing among athletes. Whether failure would break him or not, it just seems the best option to reduce the external causes of failure before throwing him into a situation. Look, the Cardinals felt he needed the reps and threw him to the wolves. He is worse off for it. I think we should set him up to succeed and see if he can. If he's the opening day starter, he gets more reps, and by game 6 the teammates and coaches have probably made their decision on him under the worst possible circumstances. Bringing in Fitzmagic as the relief pitcher could crush the kid. We're going to lose games. Both of these guys are going to get plenty of snaps. I'm advocating for Rosen's snaps to be with teammates that are comfortable with the system, and less like his teammates competency level last year.

I don't agree with this at ALL. The Dolphins have until about the middle of the season to "give" Rosen the starting job and be able to get a decent look at him. Prior to that there really isn't any rush to give him anything. I would add not giving him the job and seeing how he response to that and competition is the best early evaluation this coaching staff can do regarding their latest addition.

I agree with this, because one of his biggest knocks on him last year was how he acted, basically his maturity (Which in my opinion was more due to frustration, then immaturity...no twitter for him), so making him earn it should be process #1 on what Miami has for him, if he just takes it as a challenge, and just works even harder, then Miami has to feel good about his state of mind.

So far he has done and said the right things, even to a point, he has been far and beyond very classy to the Cardinals and their fan, while showing extreme enthusiasm on playing for Miami.

I trust he will be able to get it done, and I will be pulling for him, because if he proves to be be our franchise QB, we are going next year STACKED
to draft a championship team.

I did the same, one thing I got out of it was he has elite accuracy and pretty good strength, he was late on alot of his bad throws which is understandable for a rookie put into probaly the worst situation any player can be put in. He was a second slow on a lot of throws and that receiver core was god awful as well, fitz dropped alot of passes last year.

Not sure how much patience Ross has for our coaching staff, but he did guarantee him more years than any of the other coaches hired his offseason. He has spoken about how it may get worse before it gets better. I think Ross may not be as quick to change as the Arizona people were. Just my take on it … I could easily be wrong about Ross.

I feel like ross is easily manipulated tho, look at the couple of used car salesman hes hired as gm the last few years. I cant put much trust into rosses words, I do however believe he is 100 percent all in on the dolphins with a completely open checkbook hes just not experienced enough in football yet to make the tough decisions a franchise needs like blowing it up from the top down when the vision is flawed.

As someone who wants Rosen to start, looking at the sched it seems like starting him after the bye might be best.

What did you watch this on? I'd like to too.

But someoone posted the game recap highlights for his debut against the seahawks, and I said the same thing. Drops. He singlehandedly kept them in that game. In his debut.

Can't wait to see.

Fitz still having to compete for a starting job says enough. If the kid isn’t starting week 1 it was a bad trade.
