Josh Rosen Best Case Scenario

Rowdy, the difference this time is that we don't have a huge financial commitment in Rosen. If he's not the franchise guy, he's cheap enough to keep as a back up. He's basically on a prove it deal. We have a guy with a chip on his shoulder on a prove it deal. It just might work out but if not keep drafting QBs until it does. Rosen doesn't prohibit drafted a QB in 2020. It's a decision we don't have to worry about for a whole season.

Let's just say he does play well enough that we pass on selecting a qb in the 2020 draft. Do you honestly believe there won't be a crop of good qbs in the 2021 draft? We have no idea how the qbs will turn out next year. Neither do we know how the 2021 draft class will look either.

I hope he comes out guns blazing but if not I'm willing to have a little patients with him and give him a true chance to see what he can do. If we pass on selecting a qb in 2020. There is always 2021. I will also say though I don't want to wait 7 years to figure it out.

But its very relevant. Its a legitimate concern. Can't just brush it under the rug because it "gets old". Its bitten us in the *** numerous times.
It's not that big of a concern, being that the investment was minimal. Griers job is not on the line either way.

If we invested a #1+, then yes, it would behard to move on after a year.

We got Rosen for less than back up money........we can not lose on this deal.
Most ppl that hate the Rosen trade are in the "Grier is incompetent to make good decisions" camp, but if that's truly the case, everything else is irrelevant anyways.

Sam Darnold: 2865 yards with 17 TD and 15 ints....
Media Narrative: He's the future of the franchise and looked very talented as a rookie.

Josh Allen: 2074 with 10 TD and 12 ints
Media Narrative: He's the future of the franchise and looked very talented as a rookie.

Josh Rosen: 2278 with 11 TD and 14 ints
Media Narrative: He looked horrible and has a bad attitude. His teammates and coaches don't like him.

Anybody afraid of any of them? Allen gives me the most pause for concern because of his improvising / scrambling.

For 25 years we have done a horrific job taking cracks at the quarterback position. At a minimum, we needed to take some more shots at it. I don't see how you criticize taking a shot at the position. You can't get one if you don't try.

For all we know, he ends up as a Philip Rivers type.

Even if he is just another Joey Harrington, well, we took a shot at it. That's at least a start in the right direction. The organization is putting utmost priority on the position, finally. If Rosen isn't the guy, then hopefully they will keep taking hacks at the pinata.

No it's not relevant because of what Grier said and yes it's getting old to keep posting it.
I'm sorry, but I think you're wrong.it's absolutely relevant. Grier didn't qualify it based on performance. So, if he's mediocre, they might well think " we can fix that" and not draft a QB.

Yeah. The worst range we could be in would be 4-5 wins.
I think it is, really, a bit more complicated than win/loss record.

If we were to win games defensively (by some unforseen domination), it would be a different scenario than if we were winning shootouts with Rosen carrying the team with regular 300+ yd passing.

If nothing else, JR should make this a lot more interesting.

I still gotta say, what if we decide to draft one of the wonderful three next year.....and he sucks. How long are you going to give that guy....one year, two years, three years to prove he sucks. With what I just stated, what are you going to give Rosen...one year, two years etc. Picking a quarterback IS NOT an exact science. Some guys are good right off the bat, some take a few years. I'm not saying Rosen is the next Brady, nor am I saying he is the next Ryan Leaf. Just let the coaching staff handle all of that and root for Miami to win.
