Well Is "tank For Tua " Officially Cancelled ?

Im not arguing who is better. I was just saying how rare a 11 YPA is and the company he kept. They are the only 3 to ever do it. And the other two went first overall which is where Tua will be going.

Trevor is gonna be really good (Is really good). Hes gonna have to put up a monster year to do what Tua did though. Hes got the skill to do it.

Its extremely impressive to do it for a whole season.

Both of them are all world quarterbacks.

Why does everyone think the dolphins are the only team interested in tua? If we dont go 0-16 theres no guarantees in getting him. The team picking first may want him no matter what the compensation is. Also what is he decides to not declare for the draft and spend another year at school?

Source had confirmed that the Tank for Tua is off, the team contacted the players and told them they should prepare for the season properly. Fitzpatrick, with a mouthful of cake, gave a simple "phuck!" in response. At least we think it was that...he did have a mouthful of cake.

I still can’t believe some thought that tanking was an option.
Almost as unbelievable as trading for the guy responsible for securing the #1 overall pick in the draft and somehow thinking that changed the narrative.

Yeah I have wanted to say that but i dont want to be tarred and feathered here before the season even starts.

But since he is now a miami dolphins everything is golden and the narrative around is completely different then what it was just 5 days ago.

Which ones of these QB's drafted from Alabama have set the world on fire? Remember the context, I'm am stating the "tanking for Tua" is foolish and he is not worthy of such an action. I am not stating he is a future bust, I simply do not know answer that question nor does does anyone I suspect.

Alabama QB Saban period pre-TUA

Jalen Hurts 2016–2018 Hurts was the first freshman to start at QB for Nick Saban. He led Alabama to the 2017 College Football Playoff National Championship, which Alabama lost to Clemson, 35–31. In 2018, he led Alabama to the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship, where he was replaced during the game by Tua Tagovailoa.

Blake Barnett 2016 Barnett started the first game of the 2016 season against USC. He was replaced by Jalen Hurts, who became the starting quarterback. After limited playing time in the next few games, Barnett chose to quit the program and transfer to a junior college, and then to Arizona State where he was the backup QB behind Manny Wilkins. Currently he is the starting QB for South Florida University Bulls.

Jake Coker 2015 Coker led Alabama to the 2016 national championship, where they defeated Clemson, 45–40.

Blake Sims 2014 Sims was named starting quarterback just prior to their season opener against West Virginia after he won a prolonged competition against Jake Coker. Against Florida, Sims set a school record for total offense in a single game with his 484 yards that included 39 total yards rushing. Sims threw for 3,487 yards (a single season record) with 28 touchdowns. He also added 7 rushing touchdowns and 350 yards on the ground. He led the Tide to win the 2014 SEC Championship, in which he was the game's MVP. [1][2]

AJ McCarron 20112013 McCarron led the Crimson Tide to the 2011 and 2012 national championships and graduated as Alabama's career leader in passing yardage (9,019), completions (686) and touchdowns (77). He also holds the record for passing touchdowns (30) in a single season. He finished runner-up for the Heisman Trophy in the 2013 season. He was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2014 NFL Draft. [3][4][5]

Greg McElroy 20092010 McElroy led the Crimson Tide to the 2009 national championship and was named ESPN Academic All-American of the Year for the 2010 season. He was drafted by the New York Jets in the 2011 NFL Draft. [6]

John Parker Wilson 20062008 Wilson graduated as the all-time leader in several categories that have since been eclipsed. He still holds the record for completions in a single-season (255). He went undrafted but played in the NFL for the Atlanta Falcons, Jacksonville Jaguars and Pittsburgh Steelers.
The problem with Alabama QBs is that their talent overall is absolutely superior. Same with Clemson. It is hard to gauge how good the QBs will translate the NFL.

As a Hurricanes fan I always defer to the 80s and 90s Hurricanes teams who seemingly had the best QBs in the game. They called us Quarterback U. But how many became franchise QBs? The Hurricanes teams of those days were so overloaded with talent that many QBs never made it in the NFL. Their flaws were simply exposed.
Kosar and Testaverde are names us old timers remember. But one had a rather quiet career (Kosar) and one (Testaverde) turned into a journey man QB. And Testaverde was a #1 pick. All the others from these days? Walsh? Erickson? Torretta?

The only who turned into a true franchise QBs was Jim Kelly for the Bills. And ironically he was the UM QB when Schnellenberger started and began to turn the football program around. So Kelly had to play with far less talented players than the later Championship teams.

It is hard these days to evaluate talent especially with the media flow through social media etc. It seems someone hooks onto one player and everybody follows. Tua only got his chance because he replaced Hurts in the NC game one year. Who knows what the media would say about Tua if he never had gotten that chance because to be honest Hurts is a good QB as well.

Tua has a lot of proving to do when he enters the NFL. That superior talent surroinding him from the college days will be gone. I wouldn't declare him an automatic franchise QB yet.

I never said I supported this trade, and I don't think it changed anything as far as this tanking gibberish. There's no way this coach is going to stuff his balls between his legs and take it like a puss.

I do t believe in the 1 and done thing. What are the parameters there? That Rosen wins the SB or we draft a QB in 2020?
What if he does very well given a new team, new offense, new Coach, new receivers.
Rosen spent one season with a crappy Cards team. All of a suddns he needs to win the whole enchilada.
My opinion is that he will be heavily coached, very prepared and given all the tools he needs to win. If our coaches see the upside he stays, if not they draft a guy in 2020.

We won’t be bad enough to get the first overall pick anyway. Hopefully Rosen develops and we can use our draft bounty to load up the cannon around him.

I don't know about that. When it's week 9, and Miami already has 7 starters on the IR...

I think if they are in position to do so, they will draft a QB in 2020 regardless of how Rosen looks. Meaning if they have a high enough draft pick to draft one they like. You don't get the opportunity to draft a potential franchise QB that often.

We could end up getting a two-to-three year evaluation window out of Rosen. Strong possibility that Tua does not come out until the 2021 draft with Lawrence coming out in 2022. That's plenty of time to figure out if he is a TRUE franchise QB. If he is not lighting it up then we draft another QB at that time.

Of course it won't matter much if they don't build the team around him. Lots of picks coming in the next two drafts I would imagine. More trading back and getting picks for players with comp picks as well. More similar to NE philosophy.

Does he have enough weapons around him on offense? Still big questions for me surrounding every skill player on offense. More so the receivers. Seems like we just keep waiting for them to break out but it hasn't happened. Is that because of a QB situation (injuries/poor play at WR & QB) or are they just JAGS?

25 starts. That's all you need out of a guy to determine if he's going to be a franchise caliber quarterback for you. That's it.

If you still can't decide after 25 starts - then he's not going to be. Not for you anyway.

I promise you these guys will know which direction they want to go by the time the season is over. They will have watched Rosen everyday in practice and paid close attention to how guys respond to him. You will know too. You just have to admit you know.

That was the joke. None of those QBs were considered 1st round, let alone 1st overall and they all played on powerhouse and championship teams. The argument doesn’t hold water, particularly if you actually watch the guy play.

Tua hasn't declared. Tua hasn't played next season yet. Tua may get seriously injured. Tua may quit sports. Tua may win the lottery.

If you pick your players years ahead of time you are only playing fantasy sports. I always run every race for that day. I never think about next year and the new shoes I might buy (those support light Nike 4% shoes).
