My Guess, We Get Fitzmagic For 4 Weeks.

Building a narrative. If Rosen doesn't start game 1, Flores 'knows' he's not the answer. Can't even beat out RF

Yo silly -- aren't you answering someone else's comment to me???

>>> trying to confuse me <<<

Twicky wabbit!

I don’t really see the point in waiting to start a QB, particularly one with a year of NFL experience. Seems like a relic of ol’ timey times.

Yea, for sure

EVERYTHING in the past was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BAD!

That statement sounds a tad arrogant to me.

Just sayin'

If JR isn't injured I'd be totally shocked if he is not the starting QB on game One.

Folks we don't need to have the very best of new comers, but rather a very good, consistent and dependable guy who is solid enough to not be the problem.

Now if, Big IF he does turn into that carrying a team on his shoulders at some point when necessary, well thats a nice dosage of icing on the cake....

It’s not like rosen hasn’t started before or sat all of 18 as a rookie. This is a no brainer. Give the keys in 19 to toucan Sam from week 1

Ideally, you want Fitz to play with consistency the whole year, but we all know that is not going to happen. So , you're right, Rosen will probably be starting after the bye.

ChosenRosen starts week 6 after the bye. Those first 4 weeks are arguably the toughest stretch of the season..

1-BAL
2-NE
3-@DAL
4-LAC
Bye
That's exactly what I expect as well. Rosen was thrown to the wolves last year, and he did poorly. The entire team is going to need the first 5 weeks to learn the systems, so putting him in before game 5 (week 6) would be very tough on the kid. But, coming out of the bye, he'll have 2 full weeks of practice under center and his teammates will have a feel for how to play their positions. That sets the stage for a much better showing for Rosen.

Fitzpatrick knows he's not going to be starting next year, regardless of whether Rosen starts or a rookie starts. I suspect he plays the good mentor role, is happy to glide back into a cushy backup job for a few years not collecting injuries and still collecting a nice paycheck. He'll be a valuable resource in the QB room and a high quality backup. Now if Rosen doesn't work out, Rosen will not be starting, but at his salary, we might just keeping him to back up if his attitude is good enough. If it's not, we're not likely to get anything for him. So, either way, if we draft a new QB, it could easily be Fitzmagic who has to make way for the rookie if Rosen doesn't succeed.

So its in Fitzmagic's best interest to help out Rosen.

He's NOT a rookie. If he's ready, as far as grasp of the offensive scheme, play him. By all accounts (even those of his detractors), he is intelligent, so that shouldn't be an issue.

You, sometimes, sit a rookie to avoid having his confidence needlessly shaken. That ship has sailed in this case. He's already taken his lumps, and paid his dues, IMO, and it doesn't appear to have made him "gun shy", in the least.

If he's not ready, because of lack of understanding the O, that's a different story.

Miami is going to have at best two new starter at the O-Line (Probably 3), there is a new HC, O-coordanator, O-Line Coach, and if there is one good thing you can say about Fitzpatrick, he get hot early.

Believe me, I would love to see Rosen in there from day one, but this is not a "Let's show them how good Rosen is" moment, this is a lets be smart type moment, so instead, let's allow the line to get used to each other, allow them to get used to what the new O-coordinator and new HC is teaching them and wanting them to learn as far as offense, and allow ourself to try and ride Fitzpatrick as far as we can (if he loses games, then obviously, all bets are off) until the coaches feel Rosen is out playing Fitz in practice.

It's doubtful Miami makes the playoffs this year, but what if they actually do...

1. The defense plays well from the start.

2. Fitz is able to do enough with the defense playing well, to to win some games on that brutal 1st 4 games.

3. Rosen once he comes in, is everything we hoped, and more.

4. The coaching is actually really good, and press all the right buttons, make the right decisions.

They need to go into this season with a mentality that in the AFC east game one, they are tied with 3 other teams, and remember that less talented teams then the team Miami will be putting on the field did not just make it to the playoffs, but actually won it all (St Louis Rams as example).

Oh, and though i said 4 games. It could be less, it's up to the coaches when Rosen is ready. If he looks amazing in pre-season, then go for it.

And Sam Darnold and Josh Allen played from the get go last season and they were true rookies. So there is no reason not to start Josh Rosen from the get go here either.

I don't have a problem with his confidence, he probably has more then Darnold and Allen put together, or him being able to learn a new offense, i just have a problem with an offensive line that will have at least one new guard (could very well be two), and a new R-tackle.

A good O-line needs to feel the man next to him, and what he is going to do, they need to play a few games together, if they can gel during preseason, and Rosen outplays Fitz all preseason, then i have no problem, but that is up to the coaches, who need to be smart, not be in "Proving a point" mode.

Based on what? Fitzpatrick has had an Any/a of 6.46 the last 5 years on 3 different teams/systems. Rosen’s Any/a was 3.53 last year. There is absolutely no evidence that Rosen is better under this system.

Rosen will improve, but he isn’t going to be better than Fitzpatrick this year and probably not next year either.

I knew you would post something like that. I like the trade but from a bottom line numbers standpoint there's no question it is difficult to make a case for Rosen right now. Last year in terms of unadjusted YPA it was your basic first in the league vs. last in the league, with a gap of nearly 4 yards per attempt that is unheard of by NFL standards:

I'll accept that, but with a qualification. It will take 4-6 weeks for the OL and D to adjust to new coaches/scheme. That's reality in the NFL.

And I'll agree "If he looks amazing in pre-season, then go for it." However, I still expect Flores to defer to the vet in game 1. Again, that's about standard in the NFL for anything but a top rookie QB. Rosen no longer is.

And that sounds like insecurity, because that’s not at all what I was saying. Poor guy.

Everything in the past wasn’t bad, it was different and applying those same standards and techniques out of stubbornness in a league that has clearly moved on is dumb and, well, arrogant.
