While they didn’t select a quarterback in the NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins managed to get a promising young passer in Josh Rosen. Initially selected 10th overall by the Arizona Cardinals, Rosen struggled during his rookie year and new head coach Kliff Kingsbury effectively replaced him with Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray. Now in Miami, what should Dolphins fans expect from the UCLA passer?

Let me answer it this way. I expect RF to start. I expect Rosen to start at some point in the season. The first hurdle he has to jump is be an upgrade over RF. Second, I expect his last 3 games to be better than his 1st three. Those are the most "realistic expectation" I can give. I'll withhold more expectations until I see the OL and evidence of a real HC/OC.

I'm optimistic, but in all honesty, we don't need a top 15 QB. We need a top 10 QB. If we don't have that, or the signs point to that not being the case, we need to find a top 10 QB. Maybe that's 2020, maybe it's 2021 depending on how the chips fall.

My expectations for this season are not very lofty at the moment. We still don't know the final roster and we haven't seen the scheme that the coaching staff intends to introduce. It will be fun to see some competition from the QB's since I am sure they both want to start against the Ravens on September 8th.

If you guys think this franchise is going to waste time on fitz, you are crazy. i would be shocked if fitz is starting let alone on this roster by the end of camp. It just makes no sense when your trying to find the future. We are not competing with the top 20 this year it makes no sense to have fitz waste valuable evaluation time with a potential franchise qb in the pen. Flo saying Josh will compete is just coach speak out of respect for Fitz.

Miami could have the worst record in the league this year. But this approach surely beats the Stealers Wheel game plan of the past half-decade: Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right, here I am, stuck in the middle with Ryan Tannehill. Miami's current regime has a great vision. And I'm here for it.

At this time I just want to see a QB who has legit pocket presence and can see the field. That would be really refreshing.

Some bonus would be QB improvement on 3rd down and 4th quarter.

All of these are very possible.

Realistic? We go 8 and 8 with Ryan Fitzpatrick and then decide to see what Rosen has in 2020. All while drafting horribly year in and year out.

This is a statistical analysis based on the most recent imperical data.

If they start Fitz all year that means there all in and see the potential in Josh. I really think the opposite because of the brains we now have on the offensive side of the room. Coaches know they dont have anytime to waste proving it no matter what the owner says, If Flo doesn't show improvement in 2 years we can begin the coaching carousel again. The first person that knows this right now is FLO. Why waste a year on a proven journeyman

I expect to see Miami be the first to host (and win) a Super Bowl, with Rosen as the MVP. :woot:

Even with a rebuild going on, I have a lot of confidence heading into this upcoming season. Why? Because I no longer have to be disappointed by the likes of Philbin, Lazor, Coyle, Gase, Joseph, and Burke! The simple fact that the current regime wants more physical players and the ability to run the ball leads me to believe that they are more competent than the last two regimes!

Amen...Fitz making way too much money

I expect Rosen by the middle of the season to make the correct read and the correct throw on 75% - 85% of the pass plays.
If the above is happens and the yards-per-pass-attempts-completion increases every game, I'll be happy

Stats and wins will take care of themselves.

I think Fitzpatrick should start game 1 (and a few more) just to at least get a baseline of what we are dealing with as a team. Besides not simply throwing Rosen to the wolves, it will probably also help with the Rosen evaluation once he gets in there. He definitely should start at some point this year, barring some crazy cinderella season. One of the main things we need for next offseason is more game film on Rosen - More data!
