Now we're talking!

1. Miami Dolphins: Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama
Miami traded for Josh Rosen but didn't invest enough to bypass a quarterback next year if the 2018 first-round pick struggles. Tagovailoa saved the Crimson Tide in the 2018 CFP Final and was outstanding in his first full season as a starter, throwing for nearly 4,000 yards and 43 touchdowns. The southpaw is a favorite to win the Heisman Trophy this year.

Would rather draft a difference maker or perenial all pro at defensive end than waste one on Tua.

If Rosen shows he's the guy we need at QB and we still get the top pick then trading down would be very smart. We can stay top 5 or 6 and get a bunch of picks to help add talent to the team.

I don't see us being that bad this yr. 5 to 7 win like last yr. if OS can win some games Rosen should win some as well here. the only key player we lost was Wake.

If you go to the draft forum Slimm has already put together a ranking of his Underclass and Senior Quarterbacks for 2020.

And his Underclass Top 10 is pretty much exactly as I would've had it.

We have a few small disagreements on the Seniors, I think.

how can you say that pick would be a waste? Are you saying he would not be a difference maker? That would be a pretty bold prediction at this point.

After Rosen gets pummeled for 16 games this would be an ideal outcome

That is flawed thinking. The Cardinals understood the proper weighting system. The difference between one top tier quarterback and another is worth far more than any incidental benefits you might receive in a swap.

Now Arizona merely has to be correct in the assessment. But they have a great chance at that. It was not a flyer. Kyler Murray was a 5 star recruit and then he averages 11.2 YPA over the course of a major college season. Compare to someone like Justin Herbert whose recruiting chart is offers from the likes of Portland State and Montana State, other than Oregon. He was a 3-star recruit with some services at 2-star. Then he has almost unheard of declines of nearly 2 yards per attempts and 8% completion percentage from his second to third season as starter. I have never seen that type of thing. Yes, there was a coaching change at top but Cristobal was already there in 2017 as co-offensive coordinator.

If I were the Dolphins I would draft Tua now. Don't study anything. Small details only serve to waste time and muddy the big picture. If we end up with the first pick in 2020 then we should have known for 27 months that it would be Tua Tagovailoa.

I noticed the betting odds are Tua at 1/2 favoritism to be the top pick. That means odds-on, and theoretically 2 chances in 3. For reference purposes, Tiger Woods has never been an odds-on favorite in a PGA golf tournament. He has always been at least 6/5 odds.
