For the past seven seasons, the Dolphins have lacked identity on both offense and defense. Under coaches Joe Philbin and Adam Gase, the Dolphins never did anything particularly well and always seemed to be full of flaws.

The Dolphins offensive issues have been exacerbated by the inability to either run the ball or protect the quarterback with consistency. The root? Issues have been present on the offensive line, as well as with the coaching staff.

But now, in 201? There is reason to believe the Dolphins finally could have an identity on offense — if their draft picks are any clue.

201, huh? lol. Funny typo in the article.

But I think our OL needs to be shored up before we can speculate any of this.

I think Miami will run the ball more, something Gase quickly got away from. I don't know what Gase wanted to be on offense. He stated he wanted a "fast paced" offense, but that never materialized. I think it's a fair assumption that Miami will run a New England type offense, with quick passes and more of a commitment to the running game.

I have no problem being a "run heavy" team!
Generally speaking, a team who can dominate on the ground usually comes out on top.
It's not just "yards gained" on the ground, but ATTEMPTS. Controlling the tempo throughout the game, not just grinding clock at the end.
Running the rock set's up everything else.
On the other side of the coin........if you can't STOP the run, you usually can't stop the pass either.

Fluff piece

Pre snap and progression read with Rosen is not 3 yards and a cloud of dust

No doubt, that philosophy has withstood the test of time, and can win a lot of games.

If you can run effectively against the opponents base defense, it forces them to "cheat" a couple steps closer to the box.

That opens up the quick pass just enough for recievers to make yac.

It is dependent upon having a good OC/QB combo, to make the proper calls, and reads.

After reading that article I have no clue what the point of it was. We are searching for an identity...but that's about it.

THAT SAID, I give that article an A+ because that Dolphins Wire logo is magnificent. It's a cartoony dolphin laughing his ass off. Love it!

While it’s been 46 years.....

I maintain that a running game coupled with a stout defense wins games. Lots of games.

As it was in the 70s, it still works today.

Unfortunately, using the last 10 years and focusing only on those teams who made it to the conference championships, there's no correlation between rushing success and top teams. Top Ds? Different question. In that case, there's a high relationship.

It's dependent on the OL doing thier job. Any avg RB can make their yds. if they have a competent OL.
