I love the trade made for rosen and every draft pick except the fullback in the 7th. Many nfl executives said their were 4 elite defensive lineman in the draft, Wilkins being one of them. Udfa Preston williams could be a huge diamond in the rough if he stays focused. Flores and Grier have done a great job so far in my opinion of setting the tone for the direction they want to head in with a limited amount of picks. The trade down in the second to acquire a 2020 2nd round pick and then in turn move the swapped pick for Josh Rosen is really the highlight of this draft. His contract is also icing on the top for building a tean around him.

Negatives
No defensive end selected for a squad that was one of the worst in the league at rushing the passer. Possibly will address this on the second wave of free agency but remains a major hole. No cb selected to challenge McCain for his #2 spot which happened to be a major problem last year being burned many times. Not drafting jaylon ferguson after having multiple opportunities. Rosen could play us out of contention for the top qbs next year and keep us in the 7-9 - 9-7 range.

Predictions
record 7-9
I think rosen will improve upon his rough rookie year in arizona. Hes very intelligent and now hes playing in a system that suits his style. I expect kalen ballage to take over the starting rb spot splitting carries with drake. Offensive line will manage to rank some where in the middle of the league 15th or 16th best with good coaching , taking a look at Ryan Schraeder wouldn't hurt either. Defense... Its hard to say until after the 2nd wave of free agency. If we're able to add a danny shelton, muhammad wilkerson , jamie collins, and a cb to challenge bobby mccain then this defense could be coached up to out perform themselves. But right now i see huge holes in the run defense and a huge liability on one side of the field. Being optimistic theyll rank some where in the high teens 17th to 19th best.

Notable Statistics

Josh Rosen - 4,250 yards 62% completion 24 tds 14 ints

Kalen Ballage - 1,010 yards 4.7 ypc 8 tds

Christian Wilkins - 44 tackles 7 sacks 2 FF

You love every draft pick and the trade for Rosen except the fullback in the 7th?

Was there a FB you preferred in the 7th?

Did he pee in your cornflakes?

Do you hate two back formations?

Kudos for the title.

Not liking a 7th rd pick, irrespective of what is was, is not splitting hairs, its splitting cellophane (about 1/3 the thickness of a human hair).

7 sacks from Wilkens would be awesome, but about 3-4 more that i expect.

Great post anyway.

Cb, OL, or DL are more pressing needs. I don't hate the pick, i just felt we could of went a couple different ways there. I suppose i worded it a little anti fb pick...not my intention but i stand behind my reasoning

I can absolutely see where you are coming from.

I assume having a true FB is an integral part of the envisioned offense, and therefore a requirement.

Look at it this way. They got the pick of the litter at the position. Any other position would have been someone passed over 200 times.

Lol.

Hmmm, the top fullback in the draft (when you're going to be using a fullback), or the 50th best DE?

I'm just glad we got one on the roster. for years under Philbin and Gase we never used one and it was terrible. I understand using an H-back. But Fb is still crucial on every team and helps with pass and run blocking

You seem more emotionally invested in it than he does, to be honest. I mean, you honed in on the one extremely mildly negative thing he said and appear pretty offended by it.

Actually, the most negative thing he said was a 7-9 finish, which is the worst case scenario of continued perpetual mediocrity, but some have been okay with that for years now, so probably not as much of a negative to them.

I expect Rosen to play better now that he appears to have better coaches. Middle of league. Anything above that year 1 is icing
