Report: Dolphins Have “made Overtures” To Nick Perry

Unless it's close to the vet minimum it doesn't seem to make much sense.

On the other hand we have almost no pass rushers with experience in the 3-4, so I guess we need someone.
I agree, nothing more than the vet minimum. Coming off an injury, I guess all we can hope for is someone more scheme disciplined than Alonzo. His sack numbers were improving before the injury, 11 in 16 and 7 in 17. In 18, after 9 games to only have 1.5 sacks is disconcerting. What can we expect from him as an edge rusher? Is that what they want his role to be? He is going to be turning 30 and coming off an ACL, so I wouldn't expect much if he joins the club.

At this point in the offseason, Miami could do a lot worse. I think Shane Ray is the next best option. Not much out there.

To me this makes no sense at all. Too old and unproductive 1 year rental who might just stunt the growth of a younger guy.

He is not a “gifted” edge player and any production will have to be schemed anyway. Hopefully they are just throwing him a bone due to the Graham relationship and just talking.

I would much rather see the team try and develop Harris and Van Ginkel. I’m not sleeping on the two AAF guys either, they have the potential to really surprise.

I think the Harris project is at an end. Maybe the previous idiot regime we had stunted his growth, but I wouldn't count on that being true. When he was drafted he was a guy that had potential, but he didn't really move the needle in terms of confidence. He seems like a good kid, but is lacking in intensity and desire. But I hope I am wrong and he turns into an All-Pro.

well if we had youth or depth to be stunted i would def be on board with you saying this, but we have neither lol. we bring him in then hes not taking anyone of any kind of qualities snaps

Agree, I don’t have much faith that Harris will anything more than serviceable but I feel the same about Perry so why bother committing money to Perry?

As far as position to me at least our offseason points towards a move to a 3-4 Defense and Harris is not playing 5T. All of these guys will be sub package Edge Rushers and no matter who it is production will have to be schemed.

You made some very good points.

You have to wonder how much Nick Perry has left in the tank, but my God do we need rush linebackers/DEs!!! I hope we can sign several in the next few weeks and THEN draft some impact players next year!

18 sacks + 18 TFL in 26 games is very good production. His problem is and has always been staying healthy.

If we don't sign Nick Perry today or tomorrow then we obviously don't really give a f*** about 2019 (don't believe this is the case).

We have no proven pass rushers!!!
