Jay Fiedler Welcomes Josh Rosen To Miami

Two words... Lamar Smith ....40+ carries 208 yards, and the defense was good against Peyton that day. ...I was there!

Jay was crappy all day until that last drive of regulation. Kind of reminded me of the Tannehill led win over Rams a few years back

Lol.

I don't think TMZ digging up Jay Fiedler to comment on our new QB (thinking they're the same religion) is any indication of the State of the Franchise.

Not that it matters, but I believe they are both of the same religion, so they thought right on that one. Jay Fiedler is a member of the National Jewish Museum Sports Hall of Fame, and Rosen was inducted into the Southern California Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.

So really, they're both Hall of Famers.

That dude must have been on a constant emotional rollercoaster. He went from not being able to throw anything anywhere near his target to the two drives where he had perfectly placed passes. When he was down he was really bad but when things were clicking he was a pretty good QB.

Rosen identifies as Jewish, and his dad is Jewish, but his mom's a Quaker. In the Jewish religion, that's not actually Jewish. More power to him, though. Both of Fiedler's parents are Jewish.

Hopefully that’s all they have in common when it comes to quarterbacking.

I was never a believer in Jay Fiedler from day one... was pissed when we passed on Brees for that bust cornerback.

I remember being at a practice in the early 00’s and a reporter going around asking the fans what they thought of Fiedler...I was totally negative on him and got into an argument with a guy sitting close who was pro Fiedler... funny stuff!

Jay Fiedler is one of my best friend's favorite Dolphin of all time!

I get the scrappy, blue-collar, try hard, angle.

My feelings were always to aim higher at the QB position.

I felt like we had Tommy Vigorito running around out there trying to play QB.

At best Fiedler was a very poor man's David Woodley (R.I.P.).

Considering that he was bar mitzvah'd and the family was not Orthodox, the above is not necessarily considered as true. It's really an inconsequential discussion either way.. what matters is whether Josh can ball.
What this meant was that if a child was born of either a Jewish father or a Jewish mother, and was raised as Jewish, that child would be regarded by the Reform movement as Jewish. They were, however, expected to participate in the various Jewish life-cycle ceremonies which usually mark the life stages of a Jewish person.

You're right. It is inconsequential.

But being born and raised Jewish, this has been my lifelong understanding (from your link):

"the Mishnah states that the offspring of a Jewish mother and a non-Jewish father is recognized as a Jew, while the offspring of a non-Jewish mother and a Jewish father is considered a non-Jew. This talmudic position became normative in Jewish law."

Regardless of what some Reform movements have attempted to enact in recent years.

Jay should have come on wearing a helmet sideways looking out the ear hole.

Then I would have recognized him better.
