Josh Rosen Trade An ‘absolute No-brainer’ Move For Miami Dolphins - Tim Hasselbeck | Nfl Live 5/5

The difference is R1 and R2 QB’s that end up as career backups are QB’s that were drafted as starters and failed, sliding into the backup role. If Miami traded a second rounder for Rosen under the impression he would likely become a backup, they overspent. If they traded for him to be a starter and he becomes a franchise player, that would be a steal.

I almost agree. Let me tweak that.
"If they traded for him to be a starter" thinking he COULD "become a franchise player, that would be" justifiable. If he becomes a franchise player, that would be a steal." "If Miami traded a second rounder for Rosen under the impression he would likely become a backup, they overspent. "

I doubt any team drafts a R1/R2 QB with the idea of them becoming a backup. I doubt Miami did. But a backup at $2mm/yr isn't a bad deal.

At this stage during a rebuilding project you have no use for backup QBs. Rosen is absolutely being on this team because of his franchise QB potential

We don’t have the chess pieces to compete in AFCE but give it two more years and we will be on top of the division

Yeah, Brady should be done by then :)

At this point, he has 1 season to prove himself. I don't think the organization is looking beyond that. They are absolutely considering all possible outcomes, but I doubt they will waste multiple years if it is not working. At least I hope not.
Just the opposite, he does not have to come in and start. He needs to get ready because few NFL Qb's make it through an entire season without missing time. That's when he needs to show he can play. With our current OL I feel for both of those guy's, they will spend a lot of time in the training room. Back to Rosen all he needs to do is show he belongs. It takes time for a QB to jump to the NFL and be successful.

Im a fan of the trade...but have to be optimistic. Our oline isn't much better as of right now then the cardinals. He also may play us good enough 6-10 or 7-9 out of contention for the top qbs next year. It'll be very interesting in miami this year...the system fits rosens skill set and he should have a chip on his shoulder now. Wrs are good not great but preston williams could be a huge diamond in the rough. Rosen to williams tds coming this year maybe?

Good safety manipulation by Rosen. He has enough good tape like this to be cautiously excited for him

biggest no-brainer in the history of mankind. so much so, that the miami dolphins were the only team willing to offer a 2nd rd pick.
as a lifelong fan i hope it pans out, but i would have felt better if we stuck to the consensus rebuild plan. i dont see rosen becoming elite like some of the prospects coming out the next 2 drafts.

I'm not saying it's wrong in this case but that 2-year plan always holds too much belief. Go to one fan forum after another and they're always 2 years away from some goal. I've seen it throughout my life. After the Dolphins lost Csonka, Kiick and Warfield the local consensus was we were 2 years away from overcoming it. When I was at USC in the '80s the basketball team was supposedly 2 years away from the Final Four. Every year on Canes forums we are 2 years away from the national championship.

I guess it feels just far away enough to make meaningful changes, but close enough to touch.

2 years no Pats dynasty - Flores and Grier are banking in themselves - Ross is banking on them too

I honestly don’t see the safety manipulation here. Nobody can really tell where Rosen’s exactly looking at. Fitzgerald and Kirk are in the same area so Rosen just looks to that area. The safety follows Fitzgerald because he gambles.

Yeah there's 3 or 4 on these forums that hate it. I think it's bc they really want tua more than anything.

The problem with wanting a future college player that has yet to prove anything inthe NFL, you really don't know how he will react, if he injury prone, has a bsd attitude.

If Rosen succeeds, why would you waste a high draft pick on another QB in hopes he can be as successfull or more then the successful one you already have.
