Rosen Pick Can Harm Fins

That’s a BIGGGG what if
Not really.

As I pointed out in another thread, of 17 QBs selected #1 overall, since 1990, exactly 2 have gone on to win a championship. A few others had "good" carreers, with regular playoff appearances, but it's less than a 50/50 proposition.

I know many ppl don't do history, but those who fail to learn from it, are doomed to repeat it.

No, I didnt make that up....lol

Horrible argument.

The argument is that because Miami has Rosen they are precluded from drafting the QB prospects in the next few drafts. As we have seen, it certainly did not hinder Arizona this year, considering he was a top 10 pick the year before. He is even LESS now that he is in Miami with the new regime in place here.

All of our options for 2020 are still on the table. If we love Rosen we build around him, if it's a failure we move on from him and if he's in between we'll figure it out from there. Anything but loving the guy will result in a QB being picked in the first round 2020.
I'm very glad we have a little bit of time to put the oline together. I'm very concerned about how we plan to field an oline that isn't awful. I'm much less concerned about the defense, I think DT isn't that awful with Wilkins, Godchaux, Taylor and Spense. The DE room is thin. We need to do something about it. Interesting times!!

If Miami did draft Tua I could only imagine the crazy expectations Dolphins fans would have for to reach in his first 4 years? Anything short of Pro Bowl appearances and leading the team deep into the plays and the fans would turn on him early and label him a bust. Especially if the Dolphins have to package multiple picks to move up and draft him.

First, *I* was presuming. Didn't accuse you of presuming anything.
Second, I'll agree, but change that to "unless they have seen enough to think Rosen is the guy, . . .' Remember, no one can be "100% sold" on any '20 rookie

We are kind of saying the same thing haha. But it's very rare that we have the assets/poor record to pick high in a (projected) elite QB draft class. I don't know that I would pass that chance up. Obviously a lot can change during this season both in the NFL and college, so this will likely be a finheaven topic of discussion for the next 11 months.

Honestly, they will only be remembered by few on messageboards and beat reporters with agendas. If a QB doesn't pan out it will be quickly replaced by the next. Anyone remember Tannehill? No, there are multiple threads here (and elsewhere) about Rosen. He hasn't even practiced yet.

If Miami gives up the farm for Tua or Fromm then that farm will get tilled when another season comes.

Are you drunk?

Do you care to take issue with anything specific in my post? I appreciate the opportunity we have for reasonable discussion, however if it is your motive to insult then that says more about yourself than it does anyone else.
Your response had nothing to do with the post you were replying to. It seemed complete gibberish.

Like many have said previously in this thread, there are no guarantees with QB's drafted #1 in the NFL. Just look at Stafford in Detroit - #1 overall pick and he has yet to win a playoff game. He is something like 66-75 in the regular season and 0-3 in the playoffs. And his record against teams above .500 is atrocious. If that is what you guys want out of a QB drafted #1 after "tanking" for a season in order to have a chance at drafting your favored QB, you are insane.

And Stafford had Johnson and Tate and Bush some of those years.
I think we agree, I'm not against taking Tua or any QB Flores thinks is THE guy. My problem is with those who seem to be absolutely certain Tua is a guarantee. He may be the next HOF QB, but, so far, it's a gamble - and not a safe one.
