The Dolphins Poised To End Their Offensive Identity Crisis

That is not the premise of the rushing attack in the Earnhardt-Perkins offense.

I get that. But this run heavy stuff with a pre snap progression read offense I don’t buy.

If someone wants to tell me that we will be opponent specific with the emphasis I get that side of it.

That is precicely what I want, and expect to see.

Attack an opponents weakness, whether it be runs between the tackles, "drags" across the middle by recievers, or whatever the case may be. It's also huge if you can make those adjustments on the fly during games.

I am no way in favor of the 3yds in a cloud of dust method. That hasn't worked as a steady diet in a couple decades. It sure is a nice option with the lead, in the fourth quarter though. Tends to break an opponents will.

I know it is not easy to field a team that is proficient at everything, but if you can pull it off, it is tough to stop.

Miami will compete, they will dumb down the offense so Josh Rosen is comfortable with his throws, running the rock is the order of the day, it will create a kind of identity that this team hasn't seen in years, it will take advantage of the Home field that comes with playing in the sweltering heat.

I agree with the title, our identity crisis is petty offensive.

The 3ypc method is everything you want to avoid as a running team. Your model is more of the saints or patriots and their ability to attack the areas where run defense struggles.

A good example of this is the past two Afc championship games. In the jaguars game they relied on the run so much it end up costing them the game. That "run and play great defense" method magnifies every error your team commits as it never gives you a comfortable advantage. It was Sparano's undoing here.

The exact opposite happened when the Pats played the chiefs. Thier plan was specific and exposed flaws the chiefs could not adjust to, or didn't because Bob Sutton was senile. It ended being a huge factor in the Pats escaping because they were able to wear down the defense in that shootout.

After reading that article I have no clue what the point of it was. We are searching for an identity...but that's about it.

THAT SAID, I give that article an A+ because that Dolphins Wire logo is magnificent. It's a cartoony dolphin laughing his *** off. Love it!

I would say that things are pointing to a shift from finesse lineman to maulers, and that will emphasize more of the run game. Back to the Jake Long and Richie days of beating up the opponent in the trenches, instead of getting abused like our line has been for years.

Yeah I was thinking about this today. With the addition of a fullback and a commitment to running the ball, Miami might win more home games than I originally thought.

I think we might use Gaskin more than people think. 4 years with 1000 yards rushing is pretty good.

He really looks like a prototypical Patriots back. Not that fast, not that big, just plays the right way. I'm almost certain he will have a role.

I think our coaches know that in most cases the ball is coming out fast. Run blocking is more important to our coaches, judging by the players picked. My guess would be that we picked the exact o-linemen we needed in the draft. This group can run block. I'll believe it when I see it but it's got a chance.
