Relax And Enjoy The Ride

I'm genuinely trying to understand. I'm a big proponent of "text doesn't always convey tone." I forget that sometimes, though.

That's his MO. He responds to someone by putting words in their mouth to create an argument.

I'm really not sure where you're going with this. So anyone who suggests that the Dolphins are trying to replicate the success of the Patriots offense is...therefore...suggesting that the QB of said offense is Tom Brady 2.0?

Basically the whole "patriots way" gets tossed around way too loosely around here. We got a deficiency on the dline? No problem its the "patriots way" to not have dlineman. Got a deficiency on the oline? Don't worry Patriots never have great olinemen because they just coach them up.

Our QB isnt very good? Don't worry we got the "patriots way" on our side so the QB automatically plays better. Thats what gets old. The patriots way has never worked for any other organization. Many have tried it. Its not gonna be any different here. Not saying Flores wont be a good coach but its not gonna be done the "patriots way". They got belicheck and Dante up there. Oh and Tom Brady.

THE SCHEME ISNT GONNA FIX EVERYTHING

if I may, I believe he's saying it's going to be very difficult to replicate the Patriots offense without a certain QB

...but that's not what phins_4_ever was saying. He was suggesting that the Dolphins were following the Patriots' model of *acquiring players.* Nowhere did he mention the Patriot Way. That's what confused me. He literally said the Franchise QB was the most important piece of the puzzle...and then it was suggested that he was comparing Rosen to Brady....which he pretty clearly wasn't.

Of course.

The problem is that nobody stated the Dolphins were trying to replicate the Patriots offense. An argument was started against a premise that didn't exist.

First, maybe a digression. I've never understood the difficulty Os seem to have with the Patriots' way on D. Rely on the run game? Guess what the Pats will do. Have a single dangerous receiver? Guess what the Pats will do. The Rams HAD to go in the SB KNOWING the Pats would try and stop the run. Did they have an adjustment for that? Apparently not.

That said, the reason BB's assistants haven't been successful is they don't have BBs' organization. Not the same OL coach. Not the same OC. And apparently none learned how to mimic the Pats' D philosophy. I HOPE Flores - a D guy - has learned. I agree, scheme isn't everything, but a poor scheme is nothing.

I agree with what you are saying but most on here need to pump the brakes on Flores. I don't like the "well this QB has come from ABC university. How many have succeeded from there?". But in regards to the patriots assistant coaches, there literally has not been one of them to become successful. O'Brien would be the closest but I would argue he has held that team back more than anything.

I got a feeling people are gonna be a little disappointed in what Flores can do with this defense. Although the patriots played great defense in the Super Bowl they werent some world beaters. They were 21st in the NFL last year in total defense. People see what they did in the super bowl and have some unrealistic expectations I believe.

Maybe I am just a debbie downer and he has this defense playing as a top 15 unit next year. That would be an amazing accomplishment.

I agree. My point was OCs seem clueless concerning the Pats' gameplan although it's been the same philosophy for years. The D may not be good, but they're disciplined and the gameplan is lethal.

I admit I'm optimistic. I do expect the D to be better (not a big challenge). No one can make realistic judgments until about game 9, but I think scheme/discipline will be critical. And I agree on ass't coaches. The coach can only do so much. It's VERY difficult to duplicate the organization. Nonetheless, the organization is exhibit A in my position players count, but the organization can't be understated.

Yep...that's where it should be (and where it is on another site I'm on)...but it's not there, even tried different browsers. I'll let the site folks know.

19’ is bound to be a rough year... I don’t accept 20’ in that same manner....a huge draft next year should put us in position to at least fight for a playoff spot.

As many teams have shown... it does not take forever to turn it around.
