Defensive Line Coach Marion Hobby On Christian Wilkins' Strengths Personality 5/10

As fan fan since I was a small child...I could give too shits if I hear Marino and Shula's name. ****, all them years together and 0 ****ing Super Bowls...greatest coach and greatest QB...who held who back?

These guys have a job, to focus on building a winner now, not pay kudos to the past.

Undefeated Season was 47 years ago...the last time the team saw a Super Bowl was 35 years ago.

Coaches just need to coach...the branding of the team is the marketing departments job

I listened to what they were saying. I also noticed what they didn't say. It's no different than a free agent who never mentions re-signing with the team or being there next year … the absence of the words mean something too.

You know I'm interested in what they say, but ever since Flores stressed that there are only 32 of these openings, without respecting the city or franchise, while he showered Kraft and the Patriots with praise … it has been noticed. Now, it's happening too many times and too consistently to be an oversight … it's a choice. If they move the franchise to London, hey, they laid the groundwork … and I do NOT think that will happen … but damn man, he's really going out of his way to NOT call these players Dolphins, to NOT complement the city, to NOT praise our history or tradition. If it's just a job to him … that's not enough, IMHO.

Dude - you are over-reacting to absolutely nothing. Mr Ross hasn't spent $550M+ upgrading the stadium to uproot the team to London. This is a sunk cost and the facility is going to be utilized for football. On top of this, he is currently building the new training facility next to the Hard Rock Stadium. Why would he be wanting to do this if his goal was London? I've never heard anything more ridiculous.
Let our new coach focus on the difficult task at hand in bringing a new coaching staff and new players together and focus on winning games. Coach Flores doesn't have to be saying the words "Miami Dolphins" over and over again so that you can salivate like a Pavlovian dog. He and all of his staff are wearing Dolphins caps and t-shirts. You may find this hard to believe but they are all now Miami Dolphins.

Hey, support what/who you want …

I support the Miami Dolphins and Flores is the team's Head Coach. I don't need him to remind me of that whenever he speaks. I'm not going to count the times he mentions it. He is taking all the experience he has attained to get here and pouring into this empty sack of a franchise. That sack may have Marino written on it, made in 1972, the old logo whatever... it's been an empty sack for decades.

Odd … you quote me and bold and italicize it and increase the font by a lot … but do not highlight the rest of the thought in the same sentence where I say it is not going to happen. Here is the literally what I wrote immediately after that sentence … sized boldened and italicized just like you did the other part … just so we're showing the whole thought:

"If they move the franchise to London, hey, they laid the groundwork … and I do NOT think that will happen … "

Odd that you didn't emphasize that part of the sentence that immediately follows, and explains that I did not think it would happen.

Hey … please read the entire thing, don't just pick and choose what you want to refute because you are taking the thought out of context.

If you want to continue your personal attack calling me a dog "so you can salivate like a Pavlovian dog" … yes, I understand his research … and the thinly veiled insult. Wearing the gear isn't the same as embracing the concept … and I realize you know that. So don't even put that up as some sort of false equivalent please.

I've read your posts for years … and never expected this from you @spiketex and hope you will go back to discussing the topic rather than mis-emphasizing my quotes and personal insults.

So you're saying that I can't support my team? Because that's what I'm saying … and I don't set rules for you, and am surprised you're setting rules for me. That's why I said:
"Hey, support what/who you want … but the tradition and accomplishments of the past bond me to this franchise. It matters to me. I get it …. it may not matter to you. But it does to me."
It matters to me. I want a team and coaching staff that cares about being Miami Dolphins. You're free to care or not care about that … I'm just making it clear that it matters to me.

No one can accuse you of not being observant. That is the one thing that bothered me also was when asked why he took the job and his reply was, "there's only 32 of them" nothing was said about taking it because of our rich history or the city being a factor. He didn't say what you'd expect from a new coach with a new team. I hope it's just the fact he was with the Pats organization for so long, he's a bit uncomfortable associating with the Phins. Maybe a bit of separation anxiety. Hopefully, that passes with time. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

I applaud the passion you have for your hobby. The methods you choose to celebrate that are multi-cultural and I encourage you to feel fulfilled. It is endearing to see those that are older with such passion for the honor and respect of their history and accomplishments however long ago they were.

For real...... Adam Gase went and visited with Shula once. He was a ****ing failure as a coach. All that matters to me is winning. I’m 40 years old, and this team has accomplished exactly DICK in my lifetime. I want a ****ing Super Bowl before I’m in the grave, and I don’t give a **** how that’s accomplished or if Flores says ‘Miami Dolphins’ every other sentence. The **** people find to complain about on here never ceases to amaze me.

Your assumption that they don't care is a bit extreme. You don't know that.
You seem to be implying it based on measurables that have no definite bearing on their actual feelings one way or another.

Digital that’s a ridiculously tough take on the guy. What’s your profession by chance?

I worked for a basketball coach a few years back who, during offseason workouts and conditioning, would not let the team have a "breakdown" and say "Family" (which we always said every day during the season). His philosophy was that the term "family" is so strong that it needs to be earned. While there are random kids that won't be on our team and are just conditioning, we don't want to let them into our sacred culture and bond that we only share with our teammates during the season.

Maybe that is similar to what Flores is thinking about not calling these guys "Miami Dolphins", because they are all currently trying out. You have to EARN the right to be a Miami Dolphin, 90 guys don't get to say they are on the team. It will feel more special when the 53 guys on the roster ARE Dolphins or ARE a family. Wording is very key, especially when you are around guys and they hear your voice 365 days a year.

Psychology can be a very effective tool.

Assuming the specific wording is by design may, or may not be a correct assumption, but the sophistication, and orchestration of todays organizations would lead me to believe there is a purpose.

I watched a BUNCH of these coach interviews. Almost none of them even uttered the phrase "Miami Dolphins" and even then only once. But, Marion Hobby was my favorite interview, and he's a coach for whom I have a lot of respect. I'm anticipating this being a good unit, despite us being a bit undermanned across the DL at the moment.
Everyone knows he is a Miami dolphins coach it also says it on his shirt why would he be mentioning it in an interview with someone who clearly ****ing knows he coaches Miami. I'm so confused on why your crying about this it's one of the dumbest things I've read on this board and that's saying alot. Not trying to bash you or anything it's just mind blowing that this bothers you
