Fitzpatrick, Rosen Begin Qb Competition In Miami

No reason to treat Rosen like anything other than a second round pick. Just as no one would bat and eye if a second round pick didn't start day 1, we shouldn't be shocked if Rosen doesn't either.

He’s not going to start the first day and it is going to shock the fans and all media who have been pushing the narrative the entire time. The coaches have flat out said that the best player will start and somehow everyone ignores it. Even that interview with O’Shea the media kept trying to get him to say how great Rosen is and assuming he was going to start. O’Shea was having none of it.

Just in my time here, I've learned how coaches comments work. If they agree with the poster, the coach is being honest. If the comments disagree with the poster, it's coach-speak. Easy to prove/dismiss either way. I STILL think Rosen wins the competition unquestionably and starts, or, it's close and Flores defers to the vet.

Ya know, I feel like giving the job to a guy who clearly lost the competition would be incredibly bad for building proper team dynamics. Can't we just have an honest QB competition and let the best guy win?

We have not had pro bowl qb since 1995.. that said. That problems

You’re right, I’d be shocked if he doesn’t start week 1. He’s the better QB.

He is a top ten pick...no different than Sam Darnold and Josh Allen... he’s had a rookie year on a very bad team comparable to those two.

He should be viewed in the same light as them... just because Arizona radically changed their scheme and drafted Kyler Murray, it is no reflection on Josh Rosen.

We can agree to disagree, but that's not how I see it. To the Dolphins he's a second round pick. That's what he costs us. Brock osweiler was a top pick at one point too but none of his other teams looked at him that way surely.

I'm not saying this as a knock on Josh. But at the end of the day, it is what it is. If the league though he had top 10 pick value someone would have given them more than we did.

I agree, but if it's close, I give Rosen the nod.

In this case, I don't see it as being that simple.

Fitz is in the late twilight of his carreer, and I doubt anyone believes he will be part of any future playoff runs, while Rosen, if he lives up to his potential, could lead the team to several. That determination needs to be made before the 2020 draft.

I agree with this. If Rosen was considered top 10 by the rest of the league; other teams like Denver, Wash, and NY would’ve been in a bidding war for his services with Miami instead of picking up someone in this last draft.

His value is a 2nd round pick and was only worth a 2nd rounder to the Dolphins this year. Good value for the team looking for a young kid behind center. I personally always thought the Cardinals jumping up in front of us to get him @ 10 last year was a little bit of reach, but hey that’s JMO.

To this day, I say that Strock would have won that Super Bowl.

I don't think so. Washington was physically superior. It was evident very early in the game.

I've mentioned that I was incredibly calm during the 1972 season Super Bowl in the second quarter, despite a scoreless game. We were controlling matters and it seemed merely a matter of time. A decade later it was exactly the opposite. I was a nervous wreck throughout that game. That morning I awoke expecting a win, and thinking it had been 9 long years. But once Washington started piling on the rushing attempts I knew it wasn't good. We were hanging in there but they were pounding away. This time we didn't have dominant defensive linemen like Bill Stanfill or Manny Fernandez.

In short, our defenders were nice AFC caliber players but not even close to NFC caliber. This was very early stages of that, interrupted only by the mega talented Raiders team one year later.

We needed a series of flukes to win that game. It could have happened with the Bokamper play. We already had the kickoff return and deep touchdown pass. But excluding those two plays the relevant stats were devastating -- 24 first downs to 9, 400 yards to 176, 52 rushing attempts to 29.

I give Shula credit for running the ball as often as he did. Otherwise it would have been far worse if we resorted to one of those 9 or 12 rushing attempt games that we became so fond of a few years later. Of course, that approach would have made no sense under Woodley.

BTW, Woodley is not given nearly enough credit for how he played early in those playoffs. His two best games of the season were opening round vs. New England then the playoff rematch against San Diego a week later. Check those numbers. Then he had a lousy game vs. the Jets and eventually in the Super Bowl, after a great start.

to be fair if dolphins work w Rosen he might turn out be all right. he need team that willing give him chance to see what he can do. just like all rest of 2018 qb are getting. only qb that got pass grade was bakerfield and jackson

What Rd was Bakerfield drafted Lol?

Brock Osweiler was a late 2nd round pick. Far from a top pick.

I think they figure there is a good chance Fitz doesnt start the whole year even if he starts week 1. And if he miraculously stays healthy and keeps Rosen on the bench, that only means a miracle has happened and were a contender.
