Josh Rosen On The Rich Eisen Show

This tells me two things:

1) The Cardinals are not a classy organization under GM Steve Keim. It comes from the top.

2) That Steve Keim had some pretty severe buyer's remorse on Josh Rosen.

He treated Rosen like dirt. This was the same GM that just made Rosen a Top 10 pick. There's always a connection with that, a relationship. Within a year, there was no relationship. There was no regard. Something happened.

Sounded as if Eisen was goofing around with Rosen with some of the things Josh did in the past. Funny stuff. But the acknowledgement of how the Cardinals treated him was just terrible on their part. No one deserves that. Adam Gase was the biggest pie hole in terms of attitude but he was treated with class by the organization while being shown the door. Big difference!!! I just hope Miami made the right call on this kid?

Oh, he is? Didn’t know that. I think he got promoted above his competency levels and he’s trying to make up for it by being funny. Which he’s not.
He certainly is not. He did a “bit” during the draft after the selection of a punter was revealed by breaking a chocolate football. There was not a moment of it that elicited even a smirk from me, but he thought he was hitting home run after home run with his rant. Of course he was encouraged by the forced jocularity of his co-hosts. It was painful to watch. He tries so hard to fit in with all these athletes. I guess he thought he could get a little cred with some punter bashing. Pathetic.

Reading between the lines (and this is a lot of guessing on my end) Steve Keim is a bit of a meat head and he just didnt like/get/understand who Josh Rosen was.

Possibly but I could also view it that since Kingsbury made the call to Rosen, Keim could have said something to Kingsbury like “You don’t want him, you tell him”.

It was fairly well known their wasn’t a consensus on the pick leading up to the draft.

Rich was trying to be funny...but he just was not.

Don't know how the QB competition will end up..but after hearing the interview...I am rooting for Josh. There were multiple times Josh could have called out Rich for his attempts at humor...but he repeatedly took the high road and tried to play along.

Good luck Josh...

I still love it that we brought in Fitz. He will be a gift to Rosen's growth I believe and in all likelihood a really solid backup.

"In terms of guys to compete with, as far as my personality profile there isn't a better guy I could get along with than Ryan Fitzpatrick. We've had some great conversations so far. I think our QB room has been a lot of fun. He is really goofy but he really loves to work. He's gonna make me better and I'm gonna make him better. Complacency is a killer in this league. Competition in general kills complacency." -Rosen

Above his competency level is a perfect description. Miles above. Likewise the flailing attempts at humor. That's another staple. Eisen is the most juvenile-minded major sports network anchor I have ever seen. Like when that Mississippi State guy flopped out of his pants at the combine several years ago. Mayock responded appropriately. But Rich Eisen was in his absolute glory. He'd love for that type of thing to happen and be a topic every day. Eisen should have been a starter house for NFL Network. The fact that he's still there and still the feature 15+ years later is mind boggling, and IMO drags the network far below its rightful level.

But I give Eisen props for making a bold move and forging this himself, essentially allowing higher ups the chance to screw up. He wasn't promoted. He was stagnant at ESPN, basically middle of the pack and assigned to mostly baseball. He recognized the growth potential of NFL Network and jumped at the opportunity to switch and be the lead, while fully recognizing the early years would be at deficit.

Rich Eisen was a petrified shill in this interview with Josh Rosen. The most incompetent interviewer in the planet would instantly recognize a need to follow up on the Steve Keim reference from Rosen. There should have been several related questions, if not the remainder. Instead, Eisen wobbled away and started asking about condo sales. That's what juvenile minded types do...when nervous or scared they default to juvenile. Eisen didn't dare ask anything that could put a prominent NFL figure in a bad light, even if richly deserved, so to speak. and as summarized by ckparrothead above.

The lack of that question was particularly pathetic because the two prior questions from Eisen had been quick and sharp, well above his norm. Everything related to Kingsbury and the phone call was well posed. I was briefly shocked. Then Eisen retreated to his typical level.

I do give him credit for the annual charity work. Well done.
