Jets Fire Gm Adam Gase Steps In As His Replacement

Just saw that Jets fired their GM and named Adam Gase acting GM.

So with HC duties AND GM responsibilities, how does this affect the Fins chances vs the Jets, and the Fins' AFC East competitiveness?

I think the Jets are about one Gase meltdown away from falling apart.....and training camp can't even begun...
The Jets did what??!!??:drop:

They will still sweep us and have some impressive young talent. Imploding so early is not good for us. We needed Gase to be around long enough to do long term damage to the Jets. I don’t see this as good news.

Nth hand report taken from Jetnation: (copied from Pats forum Jets clown show thread)

Cimini on 1050 spilling all the tea. HOO BOY. Highlights:

—Chris Johnson wanted Gase and got Maccagnan to go along with it, and they spun it to make it sound like Macc was more involved in the hire than he was.

—Gase DID NOT WANT Gregg Williams.

—Gase wanted the Browns job to the point that Peyton Manning called the Browns first. Jets were the fallback.
It's funny to think that Peyton believes he has that kind of pull around the league. I could never imagine being an exec and having him call to convince me that I should hire someone like Gase on his word. You would think he is joking.

I have theorized for a while that Gase believes that it was all on Tannehill and there was nothing he did wrong. His entire motives for going to the Jets/browns was so he could say "yeah now I got a real qb".

There is enough player talent on that roster that they should be at least 9-7 at season's end, especially with Williams as DC. Anything less than that is a failure on the coaching. A really good coach would get 10-12 wins out of that roster.

Hah, A. Gase, what a Maroon. First A. Gase is a Psychopath and not an Alpha male. Alpha males lead by example, have an exceptional grasp of whatever the task at hand is and they put all of their energies into getting results. Alpha males do push their peers, not out of a sense of domination, but out of a sense of "getting the best" out of everyone. They never blame others for failure but accept responsibility and adapt to changing situations to ensure success. They are focused on the "prize" and not on making themselves look good.

A. Gase blames everyone but himself for his lack of success, his thinking has always been and will always be, "if I can only get my guys" then everything will be good. He will not change, his horrible attitude, and untreated psychopathy will continue to lead to his downfall. I have no sympathy for him, he will continue bumbling through life "reaping what he has sown", and be a general disaster. Oh and the Phins and Jets will split, each team beating the other at home. Gase will continue to be around 8-8, 7-9, 6-10, 9-7. Then the NY media and fans will get started, and he will melt down. Watch the drama with Bell, and numerous others it will be Yuuuuuuge. But at least they have Joe Vitt.

Glad not to be a Jests fan.

Something is terribly wrong with Gase...Ive never witnessed a Coach at any level disassociate from what is happening real time like this guy

I wonder why N.E is winning every yr in afc east. jets bills and dolphins are clueless.
1. Tbum suck with jets but dolphins still hire this guy after 3 yr they let him go.
2. Adam need stick to coaching I know he suck at being GM.

So much for the people saying Gase would succeed this time because his failure in Miami had humbled him. Boy Genius can’t fail, he can only be failed.

I understand where Gase is coming from there. I was shocked that Bell got that kind of contract. Forget about who gave it to him. The idea that a running back of that age and with a serious knee injury in his background could sit out a full season, and then expect a massive contract, seemed like a total miscalculation to me. More power to him. I thought it was one of the great employee success stories of the salary cap era.

Darron Lee has always been viewed as a disappointment. Every Jets fan I know has always hated him. But I understand the frustration at shipping him at such low level of return. Gase has continually demonstrated he doesn't care about that type of thing. Once you are on his enemy list, so to speak, you are as good as gone. Lee had poor teammate and locker room unpopular whispers, just like some of the things assigned to Ajayi here a couple of years ago.

The Jets just got rid of a general manager who drafted Christian Hackenberg in the second round. I'm a bit miffed that Dolphins fans are supposed to celebrate.

I’m not celebrating, have no idea how any of it works out, I do find it a bit odd and interesting how much control Gase has been given so early.

What has he done to merit that? Keep in mind I was of the mindset that all the injuries and QB situation put him in a tough spot and I could have understood bringing him back here- but this whole situation seems a little odd. Only coach in the league who is also GM? They probably add a GM, but Gase will maintain control if the 53 so it might be a first time type GM with limited power.

GM gets fired after draft, reported that Gase did not want Bell and did not want to spend a lot of money on RB position.... that will go over well with Bell, who has been known to be quiet and a team player... not.

The next day he trades Darron Lee to the Chiefs.

Seems to me like Gase is going to have completely destroyed the team before a new GM even gets in the building.

I have a feeling Gase will be shipping a bunch of players out the door real quick before surrendering the GM duties. He hasn't even coached the first game and he's already causing ANOTHER fued with his RB and cutting players he doesn't like.

Seems like a PATTERN.

This guy has no business being in the NFL with his childish ways.

This literally is what it would look like if a fan ran a NFL team. Madden-management run amuck.
