Don’t Write Off The Miami Dolphins, They Could Sneak A Wildcard Spot

Stranger things have happened, but I have absolutely no hope that we will make the playoffs. In a way, for me personally who agonizes over every bad play and for a few days after a loss, I'm fine with that. No pressure anymore to win, only to have our better players develop and Rosen look the part of a long term franchise QB regardless of his record. It's kind of a relief to dash reasonable expectations.

Pretty much my outlook for the upcoming season..
I want to see the start of something...smart schemes that makes sense, smart football I.Q. players, physical and exciting football....
I want to see a PLAN....I want to see a team, that the only reason we lose games is that the other team just has more talent...not being outcoached or
out hustled....Need to see we have brought in the right people...with the right people..talent can be acquired !!!

I’ve told myself the same thing and then on opening day that all goes out the window. I’ll be in win now mode.

Exactly how I'm feeling for this year....fans getting worked up over everything again this year.

Im usually the biggest offseason homer you can find... But I cant even see this roster getting more than 5-6 wins this time around. Not saying that in a bad way because it'll be interesting to watch regardless of the teams record, but I dont see how this defense stops anyone from scoring. Their most glaring weakness is a direct 8 lane free way leading to touchdowns. I mean Rosen could end up with a 100+ rating and it wouldnt be enough IMO...
What is so different between this roster and last season's roster that produced minimally (other than names???)??? I couldn't disagree more with the "Their most glaring weakness is a direct 8 lane free way leading to touchdowns", the problem there WAS BURKE, period. Just a competent "D" coordinator (and no wide stink'in 9) will improve our defense 10 fold. You can believe they will at least adjust when a TE is running free down the seam, not BURKE, not our "D" staff under Gase.

But its us realists who are haters.

Every year people here get the proverbial junk punch when reality sets in. It seems they have learned nothing and want another.

5 win team. Fitz is replaced by week 3, and Rosen shows his inability to maneuver a pocket, look backside or escape the pocket.
Realists or Pessimists??? One of Rosen's strengths are his pocket prescience (unlike Tannehill). Our schedule would be tough for any team, I would be very surprised if we don't see a total different team, regardless win or lose

I'm guardedly optimistic, but no one can shake the 1st 4 games. Not only are the 1st 4 games tough, but Miami's players will be digesting a new scheme, the OL will be getting comfortable with communication, and the coaches will be getting a feel for the strengths/weaknesses of the players. To get to the playoffs (say, 9 wins) and if Miami starts out 1-3 (not unrealistic), they have to win 8 of the last 12. That's a tough assignment and I'm not that optimistic. 6-8 wins - I'm happy.

Recycled talking points.

When your DTs are getting pushed around and your LBs look like they are moonwalking to the sideline....you can not blame it all on scheme.

Yes and no. Our talent level was not great. But I've also seen enough in football to know that good scheme can hide bad players while bad scheme can magnify them

And I have seen enough, that when your getting beat man on man and unable to shed blocks....its a whole lot more than scheme.

Valid. BUT, when a TE is running free down the seem a couple times a game, you would think they would at least adjust. NO adjustment, not just in a game, but every game. Wait let me guess, its Kiko's fault, right? After all, seems like he was the one always chasing. COACHING/COACHING/COACHING. Say what you want, Burke was/is the worst D coordinator this franchise has ever had. Addition by subtraction, a average "D" coordinator would improve this "D", imo the "D" staff we have now is above average and light years ahead of Burke..

OPTIMISM WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!

Not necessarily....... Flores will have the D-Line eating up/occupying O-Lineman/blockers, thus helping keep clean second level defenders (avoiding their suggested weaknesses of shedding blocks). If Burke was competent, why didn't Gase take Burke with him to NY. Exactly.

The TE?

When you see your A gap being used to decimate you, the TE is the least of my worries.
