Why Josh Rosen Has The Making Of A Franchise Qb

Pocket presence and awareness, plus his foot work are what I think make Josh Rosen who he is as a QB.

I think everybody knows he has the talent......will that translate to the field? That's the real question to me. We should ALL be rooting for him and hope for the best.

His pocket presence was so good he was only sacked 45 times his rookie season! He reads defenses so much better than Tannehill that he threw only 14 interceptions to his 11 touchdowns.

Like I said, only know what ive read. I do believe Tannehill had some similar pocket awareness praise in early scouting too...so you're right, its far from a given. Those numbers don't sound good, but ill be interested to see how he does and see for myself on his pocket presence, awareness, stepping up in the pocket, etc.

Ah rooting for the kid to fail in Miami to prove a point.

Prove a point? So should we all jump on the Rosen train for no other reason he was traded to Miami?

Hoops asked a simple question before the draft, if Rosen is there in a deal, do you take him.

I answered a flat NO. I'm seeing Tannehill v2.0, in the hype, the following and his excuse machine ramping up 7yr old echo chamber talking points.

Can I be wrong, sure. But I and a FEW others here never fell in love with Tannehill, and you people made a sport of mocking and shaming us. Until he was shipped off.

Now we got another guy, I didn't much like at UCLA and was happy when ARZ took him...as I believed then as I do know...its a lateral move.

I hope I'm wrong.

There is every reason to be skeptical of Rosen after 2018. His number of recruiting stars, what he did at UCLA and his draft status are all irrelevant now. we saw him play in actual games and no, he didn't get much help from anywhere but he sure didn't look very good.

I resonate with this. Was it a good value/risk proposition? Yes I believe so. Do I believe Rosen is going to make good on it and be a franchise QB? No, not really. I am going to support him every step of the way though, root for him and his development, and hope to be proven wrong. If I'm not, then I hope we move on quickly and decisively. I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

I didnt like Rosen coming out last year and last year pretty much cemented that thought for me. Nothing from his first year leads me to believe he will be a franchise QB. 66 QBR. 55% completion %. 11/14 TD to INT. Cards averaged 14 ppg haha All yall claiming he is better than thill in any aspect need to pump the damn brakes. Cause he hasnt shown jack **** in the NFL. Can he improve? Sure but His "pocket presence" is gonna get him sacked 45 more times this year.

I am with you on Rosen and was with you on Tannehill too. I didn't want Rosen either. From my perspective though, swing for the fences for your franchise QB. So I am fine with the trade. But I don't think he is that franchise guy we are looking for. But there is no evidence last year to say either way. That will come this year. This is a guess, as is anyones thoughts on the matter currently, but I don't see this staff sticking with Rosen unless he shows hes the dude. If we have a top 5 pick next year and Rosen wasn't lights out, I think they take their QB next year.

As Dolphin fans, we should absolutely be hopeful and rooting for this kid to be the second coming.

PManning threw a lot of TDs in his rookie season but he threw even more Ints. Over 3 more games he still went 3-13 and that's with the great Marshall Faulk putting up over 2200 all purpose yards. And then there's Steve Young, John Elway and Troy Aikman who impressed even less. How did those work out?
I didn't watch a single AZ game - have only recently seen his highlights, but I can tell you it was very plain from the beginning that Manning had an elite arm, accuracy and command of the huddle. IIrc, were it not for some late game heroics by Dan and Orande Gadsden, they would have beaten the Marino led Dolphins in both games of his first season. Did Rosen look like that? My point is, these comparisons with other rookies who threw more INT than TD doesn't capture the "it" that those hall of fame level QBs displayed. I don't know whether Rosen showed that or not.

Getting on the Rosen train as in knowing he's going to succeed, absolutely not. But any Dolphins fan not rooting for him to become the franchise QB is an idiot. I don't care about names, if that Rudock dude showed up for camp and was the best guy and we could win with him I'd be thrilled. Not sure why anyone wouldn't.

Rosen has talent, big deal. Lost of more talented players have failed in the NFL and many not as talented (at least perceived at draft time) have succeeded. Not to be corny but it's going to take buy in, hard work and more dedication than I can stress for Rosen to be successful. If he does that I see know reason why he will fail but doing that is very difficult or else many "good prospects" would be all pros.

I don't know if Rosen will succeed here but I like the trade/gamble. I'm rooting for the kid that's for sure. I certainly wouldn't let being right about what I post on a silly fan message forum skew my rooting interests :).

I don't watch or follow college or Arizona Cardinals football at all so any opinions I would have on Josh would be based on highlights and reading. I'd rather see him play myself.

Let's see what Rosen can bring to the team. I am hoping we have better depth at the position than we have had for a long time to build for a successful future.
