Gase upset with report of rift with GM Maccagnan

"Unless I say it, it's really irrelevant to me.

Reports surfaced during the draft that Gase and Maccagnan, working together for the first time, had developed a rift. One report suggested Maccagnan was in danger of being fired after the draft, but that wasn't the case, sources said.

Gase and Maccagnan reportedly clashed over personnel decisions in free agency. Asked if he was frustrated by anything in free agency, Gase said they simply executed their plan, trying to sign players on their wish list. He described free agency as a "nightmare procedure."

Gase always seemed like a pouty twerp from the get go. Everything wrong is always somebody elses fault. He takes no accountability. He may be a genius and someday we get to see it but I highly doubt it. His clashes with others over personnel seem to be his way of pointing the finger and deflecting blame after the plan doesn't work out.

He's laying the groundwork for a future defense.

I think we all got fooled. I don’t think he’s a good coach at all. We’ve seen flashes of great play calling, but any professional coach can do that sometimes. He’s a great salesman. Flamed out here and talked him way into the Jets job. Can’t knock his hustle, that’s for sure.

People get thrown off the path by looking at his first year here. 10-6 it sounds great. But he did that with personnel acquired under previous coaches. In his second year he had more power over personnel. And the slide began. Players he didn't like were sorted out and not replaced properly. He calls Landry's antics against Buffalo the most embarrassing he had ever seen yet in the same year his OL coach was caught doing coke in his office.
In year 3 it was worse. The more the team changed to his liking the worse we became. He is neither a good coach nor a good GM. He probably will do well in NY in his first year but it will be a repeat from his Dolphins days and the Jets will slide into oblivion after that.

He was asking for power in NY he has not earned. He is not an accomplished coach. He is a coach with a big ego. You can have that ego if you have something done worthwhile in the NFL.

Thankfully he is now the coach with the Jets and I hope he will get a lifetime contract with them.

I didn't get fooled. I never liked the Gase signing from the get go. I don't like the Flores signing either, hopefully I am wrong this time.
