Don’t Write Off The Miami Dolphins, They Could Sneak A Wildcard Spot

As a homer, I have been optimistic after every coaching change. Cam Cameron was supposed to be the man. Same this year, but I am more “show me” now. We know what has to be done, why can’t anyone get it right? I have lot’s of hope again, but show me.

The only way this happens is the stars aligning in a perfect storm........

1) Ryan Fitzpatrick is not good enough to do this....therefore Josh Rosen would have to have the lightbulb go on...and explode!

2) The O-line would have to far exceed its expectations from the center to right tackle.

3) Flores scheme is so good on defense that it overcomes the holes!

Even with all the above lining up....The schedule is brutal and it will take some injuries and problems on our opponents.

I usually lean to over optimistic expectations in a coming Dolphin season... but this year requires far too much to go right to expect anything beyond a developmental year leading into what will be a huge 2020 draft.

I fully expect to be very excited about 2020... this year I’m happy with evaluating Rosen and developing other players.

I'm just excited to watch the Dolphins again.

I just want to watch some competitive football, and a defense that doesn't give EVERY opposing team an immediate 7 points after their first drive... just about EVERY GAME.

I doubt they make the playoffs, BUT...

if they do at least they have a CHANCE of winning with those 2 QBz.

I think we'll finish with about a better record than last season, maybe 1 or 2 more wins. We're not worse anywhere on the field, except maybe RT. Dieter is a question mark, as a rookie but, where else are we worse off? We all seem to think we have an extremely better coach and staff. Our secondary will be fire. Our young LBers have another year of maturity and better coaching. Hopefully Kiko can still hold it down but, our other 2 are excellent and harris seems to be getting better also. Still no pass rush but, we had little last season. DTackles got better, being so young and with Wilkins. OLine is the only real weakness on this team. Most of us only seem to think the Right side is weak and the Left side will be fine. WRs are no worse than last season, at the worst but, it seems we have found some help there. RB is about the same. We lost an aging Gore but, Drake will be better, Ballage will be better, Gaskins could be a stud and so could Walton. I'd say RBs are better than last season's. And we all know we've improved the QB position, possibly haven't found the next Marino yet but, we are better than the injured R17 and his backups. I wouldn't be surprised if we made the playoffs. Anything worse than last season would be a disappointment aimed at coaching.

Thus begins the psychological journey to buttress every NFL fan's mind. Like fighter pilots fixing their aircraft before a season long dive bomb into glory...or if you're a Dolphin fan over forty, a test pilot.

While I agree that we are better because of addition by subtraction, bad coaches bad qb, but we also didn’t do much of anything to upgrade the team.

We also didn't get worse. Better coaching, better QB, I can see 1 to 2 more wins. Don't think we'll make the playoffs but, I wouldn't be surprised if we do.

I’m a torn fan lol, I want to be a competitive team where Flores will and demeanor inspires the team, id also like Tua as our Qb of the future.

Better coaching is all optimistic but remains to be seen in results. We’ve been here before. We have gotten the best names, most coveted in the business. We missed out on Harbaugh and that turned out to be no loss. Maybe. Still need to see it before I am anointing them better coaches.

I feel like we lucked into Ryan Fitzpatrick becoming our consolation prize after being turned down by Teddy Bridgewater and Tyrod Taylor. Fitzpatrick is crazily underrated due to his inconsistency. If he were to consistently play the types of games he played last year then we would have the best QB we have had here since Marino.

Last year he threw for 4 TD's on 3 different occasions. He had only played in 9 games but threw 17 TD's and only 12 picks.

I think Fitzpatrick is better than RT17, Jay Cutler, Brock Osweiler, and many of the others we have trotted out at QB. I think he is better than Josh Rosen but hopefully I am wrong.

I watched him play last year...I live in the Bay Area and the wife is a Buc fan...having Mike Evans, not to mention Desean Jackson and OJ Howard were the reasons Fitzpatrick was able to gamble and have those big games... still... he was erratic and not somebody to pin your future on.

He’s a backup...and that’s really what he should be!

Let a solid right tackle go....let the pass rushers go.
RT is a concern, but they made the right choice, given the $.

Our pass rushers weren't getting it done. Continuing to do the same thing, and expecting different results...... Well, you know.
