Secondary Is A Place Of Optimism

I'm a McCain hater, but I think he's our best bet in the slot. In my opinion it seems too many times he's beat down the field or for timely touchdowns.
McTyer- Always seems to be in position, but can't make the play
Tankersley- Like the potential, but needs to stay healthy and focused
Rowe- Hit or Miss
Armstrong- Special Teamer/Practice Squad/Injury Replacement
Wiltz- Former Patriot (not high expectations)
Summers/Needham/Lammons- Lying if I knew anything about them.

All that said, I'm still pretty optimistic about this group, considering the youth of the unknowns.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see a lot of 3 safety formations. This would be assuming Jones stays.

Forgot Davis- He's the guy I'm most intrigued by. Love the potential there

This is my point with the all the potential somebody is bound to make a good back up

Not decent enough to be a serviceable back up?
Maybe, but at this point, he hasn't been healthy in a year, and his contract is near conclusion.

Unless something unexpected happens, I don't see upside, or even a roster spot.

Just my take though.

Well he can’t say he hasn’t been given a chance

He does get beat, at times, and he needs safety help to be effective. Who doesn't?

No, he's not Dion Sanders, or Revis Island. There isn't anyone in the league, at this time, that is.

If you are arguing top 3, or top 5, you are splitting hairs.
W the rules as they are every CB will get beat. There are no more Revis Islands in the game.

While rule changes have affected things to the offenses benifit, I would point out that between 2009, and 2015, Revis went to six pro bowls.

Rules haven't changed substantially in that time.

Guys like that take their man, 1 on 1, and shut them down. Period.

IMO, it has nothing to do with rules. They are just very rare.

No, Ballage got tackled on first contact something like 43 times out of his runs.

He's far from physical.

From the limited amount I've seen of Ballage, he seems to have an "upright" running style. He doesnt lower his frame going into contact the way most power runners do.

Some backs, like Dickerson, can get away with it because, unlike Kalen, they have tremendous "vision".

Unfortunately, niether running style, or vision are coachable, IMO.

I'm not saying there isn't a place for him. If he can improve his pass pro, he can contribute a lot, but I don't see him as a "workhorse" guy.
