Jordan Mills’ Roster Spot In Danger?

I kind of imagine the players battling this training camp for three potential offensive line configurations:

1. Laremy Tunsil, Chris Reed, Daniel Kilgore, Jesse Davis, Jordan Mills/Zach Sterup
2. Laremy Tunsil, Chris Reed, Daniel Kilgore, Shaq Calhoun, Jesse Davis
3. Laremy Tunsil, Michael Deiter, Daniel Kilgore, Chris Reed, Jesse Davis

Based on the draft standing, you'd have to forecast #3 the most likely. But supposedly you've got a set of coaches that don't care none about that sort of thing. So I think this will be fun to see how it unfolds.

Except for the quarterbacks. They might not see it as very fun.

EDIT: I should add that if I had my druthers then Jaryd Jones-Smith would get first crack at that RT job over Jordan Mills or Zach Sterup because I think he's better than both. But that doesn't mean that should be the final OL configuration they land on. I suppose my preference is for #3.

If Mills cant cut it in space at RT, I'd kick him inside and do Tunsil/Deiter/Kilgore/Mills/Davis

I think the best unit is probably tunsil, deiter, Kilgore, reed, Jesse Davis

Assuming Davis plays a much more consistent tackle in pads than he did guard in 18

I could see them saying Jesse Davis is one of their best 5 regardless

Mills was a wasted signing, but Miami had to do it, because they needed experienced linemen in there to compete, just in case they could not find anyone better.

The way It sound for Mills, he will be lucky if he shows enough in pre-season to be kept as a backup.

Serious deficiency of OL talent on the street
as well as on many NFL rosters -- IMO the
weakest positional group in the NFL.

Mills looks like a waste but I guess the hard
reality is -- there aren't a ton of viable options...

We have to keep addressing the OL via draft
to attain the results we'd all like to have...

My opinion. Of course.

Really looking forward to see if we can develop a oline instead of just throwing draft picks at it.

Maybe just me but I think the OVERWHELMING % of good solid OL come via draft.

Just have to pick the right dudes.

True of all positions and we have been exceptionally poor pickers of the oline in the draft for quite awhile. Huge resources have been spent on this position with poor results.
