When the Dolphins took a flier on this flier, there were questions of whether this 5-7 guy could play in the NFL.

There can’t be any questions now.

Grant was leading the NFL in kickoff return yardage and ranked among the leaders in punt returns when he suffered a lower leg injury 10 games into the season last year. Although initially thought to be a torn Achilles, Grant said it wasn’t that severe.

“It was a big relief because I’ve seen a lot of guys that, some guys don’t come back from it,” said Grant, who did not disclose the exact nature of the problem.

I understand it's a business. These guys dont have the longest career, but at what point did it come standard for every player to always bring up its payday time on fa year. It's far from understood anymore. It's just told. I'm playing strictly for the money

If he's healthy and his head is indeed right, he could be in line for a big payday. He can make plays, we've all seen that.

Big payday is probably relative. $3-4mil a year for a NFL WR isn't big, but for us it's pretty damn great. At least a 3% pay bump for me.

I can't see him getting over $4mil a year though. He's fast but his skills in the position are very limited.

Glad to hear it, he is a honest to goodness weapon that defenses must account for (Short in Stature or not).

If used the right way, and he proves to be back to where he was before injuries, he may not end up with a huge amount of catches, but he will have a huge amount TDs, with an extremely high yard per catch average.

Hope to see him back healthy. Glad he has done as well as he has. I remember many people expected him to be cut and no way he would make the team. Love seeing players that break people's expectations and an example of why you should give a player time to get use to the NFL.

I am Jakeem Grant's insane cutting ability...

Makes me wonder how well does he compare to a Julian Edelman and Wes Welker in that regard? Is it just a matter of those guys being that much better route runners?

Grant has greatly improved his routes since his rookie year, but his "hands" are no where near the guys you are comparing him to, IMO.

If I remember one play from the Gase debacle it will be the Wilson / Grant high five play. They were clearly the two fastest players on the filed that day.

Agreed! But i would also say his hands has improved a lot since we drafted him.

Agree, but to state the obvious, all he needs is average hands to help the O. One big score in the first couple of games and teams will have to respect him deep - opening up the short /intermediate stuff.
