Same. Sloppy people don't care about beating the price. Meanwhile it adds up all over the place. In particular I have to laugh at anyone who buys a new car.
I prefer Costco slightly to BJ's, primarily because Costco has Top Tier gas while BJ's does not. That is a hidden but very significant variable. The extra detergent in Top Tier does make a steady difference...tankful after tankful.
However, the Costco in Kendall relocated many years ago and is now much further away from me. That negates the advantage, via gas cost and time expenditure. So I dropped Costco and switched to BJ's only. Buy gas elsewhere.
Wilkins has a decent idea regarding snacks at the box stores. Certainly greater value than lazily picking them up at a grocery store or some joke like Walgreens. However, in terms of snacks alone by far the greatest opportunity is to check the Front Page listings at Slickdeals.com. Those guys keep an eye on everything. The sales may not last long but great pricing if you catch the. Slickdeals will often find Amazon sales on let's say something like 40 bags of Doritos for $14 but if you apply a short-term $4 off coupon, plus use Subscribe and Save, then you can knock it down below $10...or less than 25 cents per bag. Then cancel the Subscribe and Save immediately after it arrives, so you don't get stuck paying the normal rate later.
BTW, we really need Lidi to gain a foothold in South Florida, to compete directly with Aldi. The prices at Aldi are low but only in areas where Aldi directly competes with Lidi are the Aldi prices still in the same range as many years ago. When Aldi is only evaluating the likes of Walmart and Publix as rivals they can afford to raise their prices several percent.
