Training Camp Updates - Day 7

Yeah you definitely didn't just make that up out of the clear blue sky.

Hell, he was virtually the only person at the end of the first week to declare that Josh Rosen had won BOTH of the final two practices.

Ah my mistake. I'm only going off whats posted in here. I rushed to judgement and apologize.

Exactly, right now we're creating opinions out of gossip, gossip which in some cases comes from highly unreliable individuals. The games will tell the real story. Right now, the only real information is who is practicing with the 1s and 2s and who is injured.

That’s why most of what I’m taking away comes from Barry jackson. Because he seems to give you whose playing first and 2nd team and where info etc. I don’t really care what the guys that won’t play on Sundays are doing.

I usually find the camp hot takes don’t add up to a hill of beans once we start playing preseason games.

Last year Tory mctyer was a stud then the preseason came and I was like uhh jag

Unfortunately this is all we have to go off of right now. Won’t be long before I can see them for myself and I won’t even care what the media takes are.

Not to mention live real time looks aren’t the easiest to get right period. Add in 100 degree heat and being field level you can miss a lot

Damn this is true. I think we are so hungry for football that we put undue importance on these preseason sessions. McTyer is a great example.

As a lifelong Dolphins fan, I'm already setting myself up for Preston Williams to be relegated to practice squad, Devante Parker and Charles Harris to fall short of the hype, a key veteran we are depending heavily on to get injured for the year, and at least three threads on here about how in the world Omar Kelly keeps his job. Oh and Andy Cohen to only write positive things about the team. Anything else will be surprising and welcome!

That's it.

There's a meteor about to strike earth or something.

Two in a row!

Both of you, very cool of you. People on message boards rarely do this.
No problem. I usually follow camp on Twitter but it's been crazy at work so I just just quickly ripped through this thread and reacted just off of what I quickly saw.

Keep up the good work!

According to a tweet I've read, by Cameron Wolfe, both Calhoun and Needham held their own playing with the 1st string offense and defense. Not sure what to make of that, but it sure seems like Flores and Company like these 2 players. Preston Williams at the very end of practice, made a sensational play on a long pass, where he got behind the defense, during a two minute drill, to set up a FG attempt. This according to a tweet from Luis Sung. Looks like the young man, can play?

Calhoun is a guy many expected to make the team. While Preston William's has gotten a lot of hype I've seen many non fin fans say he was a very draftable player and would not be surprised to see him compete to start. Dont know enough about Needham but from what I have seen he firs the mold of what we are looking for

The person manning the 3ypc account and watching Josh Rosen in practice...had Josh Rosen as his 2nd favorite quarterback in the 2018 draft behind Baker Mayfield.

We call things like we see them, when we see them.

But some people can't handle disagreement, and thus they start making accusations of "bias". And then they get in threads like these and lie, to where posters like ChrisTRD and dirkey are being misled and manipulated. Sucks, but it is what it is.

For those of us that can't or don't follow twitter all the time we rely on the ones posted here in the game day thread. So maybe the agenda is with the ones who post here.

This may sound a bit ridiculous or homerism on my part. But I've always have rooted for the underdog or UDFA. Every year the period after the draft, for me is at times more exciting than the draft itself. Especially in years where the draft is considered deep, where players, who were considered draftable fall out. There was alot to like about Calhoun and Williams.

Most of the time it's just people being at work or busy and don't have the time to scour twitter to follow what every single reporter is saying, so they just see what's posted here and that's their only frame of reference.

I agree with you though, the two of them backing off was extremely rare and beyond cool of them to do. I was actually thinking that when I first read dirkey's response. Kudo's to them and to you for not turning rude or attacking. Great job ck.

There are always great players that slip through the cracks. The Patriots dynasty is not built on the back of a bunch of first round blue chip prospects. The Steelers have also always been good at finding gems in the mid rounds or later.

I completely agree about Calhoun.

Really stood out to me when he signed and I took a look at him. Three year starter, tested well, leadership council, won the "Iron Dog" award for his weight room work in college.
