Rosen’s Slow Start

I really think we’re all in for a huge surprise when Fitzpatrick plays the entire season or Rosen shows only marginal improvement and we don’t take a QB on the first two days in next year’s draft.
That would mean Trevor Lawrence in 2021.

I expect they will try for Fromm.

I thought Brady then looked like Brady now when he led the Patriots on an all passing 53 yard GWD to win the Super Bowl starting at their own 17 with no timeouts and only 1:21 left in the game after the coaches told him to not take any chances.
You can always single out individual drives. But over the course of the season he was a very pedestrian QB. He was also very pedestrian in that Superbowl.

True but he didn’t have to say anything at all. He could’ve just kept quiet like many of Tannehill’s teammates. Plus there were others who praised Rosen, not just Fitzgerald.
Keeping quiet does nothing to build a teammates confidence - just the opposite

Chris Simms said this AM that Rosen's accuracy, spiral, strong arm are a few time zones beyond Fitz's who in a collection of worst ever interceptions, would get cited a few times.

Says the light's already coming on for Rosen and it's just a matter of time before he starts.

I think Jake Fromm is the guy they'll like, he seems like more of a fit for what they'll probably want. I think a guy like Grier values proposed "fit" over upside and talent.

Tua has operated primarily an RPO offense during his only season as a starter. However, Mike Locksley has moved on to be head coach at Maryland. Steve Sarkisian is Tua's new OC, and he's installing more of a progression based offense. You'll still see Tua operate the RPO's at a masterful level - but with more progression based reads and post snap verification.

Herbert operates mostly out of the pistol. Trevor is a 2021 prospect.

None of these guys are going to come in and run a Tom Brady offense day 1. You have to keep in mind college players are only allowed to practice 20 hours a week, so you can only get so involved in terms of intricacies. They don't have all day to practice like NFL players do.

I think the Jordan Love fascination is real. He's been out there at Utah State throwing route combinations and pass concepts that are staples in the NE playbook. Probably the best route he throws are slants that you see Brady executing all the time.

I see what you're saying with Jake Fromm but I think they could easily start to look at a Jordan Love as having a favorable system compatibility, while also having wheels and the ability to make plays of his own doing.

No way this happens.

I hope this is true. I beleive it is.

His mechanics, and delivery have never been in question, and niether has his intelligence.

That just leaves the quickness of decision making, and perhaps more impotant, work ethic, and "heart".

The point is we know who Fitzpatrick is, Rosen has yet to really show himself at this level.

But unless Rosen plays well above average and show progress towards being a legit NFL Playoff QB I want Tua/Fromm/Love next spring.

Splurge the cap space on Free Agent O Lineman and then settle the damn QB issue.

Yeah I’d say you are correct. I’ll be surprised if we don’t get all our QB’s injured during the preseason with the way the line is looking.

I think some just like to dwell on the worst case scenario.

For the record, the QB or the center can ID the MLB all game long but that doesn't mean they're going to block him well. When you look at the low amount of points this team has scored over the last several years you'd think they didn't block anybody.
For the record they didn’t block anybody.

after years of being a Tannehill apologist, excuse me if anything you opine about QB prospects seems extremely suspect. Fromm has an exception arm and huge upside btw

Yea that isn’t a fair take on hoops at all. Tannehill not working out isn’t all tied to his take on him as a prospect or his ability to evaluate a prospect. The guy may never had gotten it . . . But we did his ass zero favors on the offensive line and I honestly think the knee injury, lack of surgery, rehab, reinjury, then surgery and then another rehab just took whatever mental confidence he had left, away.

But even if you want to say he whiffed on Tannehill, why should that invalidate his ability to evaluate prospects? Who you know is batting a thousand? Especially at the QB spot?

His point is very valid. Fromm’s a good prospect but from an upside standpoint, he is behind Tua, Herbert and Love at minimum . . . .and if you got the top pick and choose Fromm because of the system fit it would be typical of the organization. Nice and safe.

Smart kid, unspectacular but capable mobility and average arm . . . Which all is fine and you can win with . . . But don’t pass up the dynamic playmaker and talent at the position for him if you have the top pick.

Like it or not, arm strength, escapability and quick twitch improvising are 3 key traits I want in any #1 overall pick QB in 2020.

I don’t think that with Fromm.
