If Preston continues on this trajectory, he is definitely a first or second round talent... and as a UFA, more than makes up for the 2nd we spent on Rosen!
He looks a lot like a young Keyshawn Johnson to me.
You're right! I'm still hungover from the Philbin/Gase days where they always seemed reluctant to start rookies....Why not week 1. He outplayed everyone.
He had off-field troubles in college.Watching his plays again from last night, how did he go un-drafted? I don't get it.
The kid looks fantastic! However, if there is one thing I would keep an eye on it's separation.
The defender was right there with him on a lot of those catches.
The question becomes can he get open or will a lot of his catches be contested?
The sideline catch with two toes touching and falling out of bounds was a world-class catch. Preston Williams earned a roster spot with that catch alone, because that is a possession catch for a first down-type of catch you see a foot after the sticks on 3rd & 7-10 with a CB playing off in zone coverage.
I can't remember the last time a WR made every catch that was in his vicinity. Might be as far back as Irving Fryar or Chris Chambers. Reminds me of a combo of Chambers and Gadsden, but thicker and stronger.
I believe that Parker and Stills ARE the two to be concerned about being traded. They have the most value to a few teams right now. Giants, Lions, and the Raiders with AB's cryo-feet. Who knows...but I will say this....we are seeing the blossoming of a future superstar in Preston Williams...IF he can stay out of trouble and learn from the COACHES first, and players second. I don't want Parker teaching this kid anything. Parker may have ability, but Preston Williams has skills. Parker's skills are limited to his health and motivation. Williams has skills and his ability will only be a compliment to his growth as a WR. Parker is past his growth period. If Parker doesn't break 1,000 yards and catch at least 7 TDs, I'd say he's a bust. And even then...trade him. Stills and his protesting bullshit will not be much to talk about once he wins a game or two for us. His protests will only have eyes on him when he is giving the team 2 catches for 19 yards every game for a month.
All in all....Williams has the greatest opportunity to start on this team, play for a few years, and set himself up for a beauty of a long-term deal. Landry did it with Tannehill when he left for Cleveland. We all know Landry wasn't worth the cheddar that the Browns overpaid for him. Would you rather have Landry or Williams at WR if you couldn't have both?
He pretty much schooled everyone last night! There is no way in the world Williams goes to the practice squad...Miami tries to stash him, and he will be claimed long before he even officially reaches the practice squad.
When you have a monsterous talent that still needs to learn a bit more, you allow him to learn on the job.
He was doubled on a few of those catches. He is definitely making the 53 man roster. The contested catches were incredible. Very promising for the future. I don't know who he was facing in coverage but it looked like he was pretty well covered and made the catches anyway. As excited as I was last night, now he needs to do it again.....and then again against #1 & #2 corners, consistently. DVP is nervous. I like the chemistry with Rosen.
I picked up on that too. I think he has been humbled and has something to prove. Let's hope he continues to act and play the right way.You know the best thing I liked about Williams, other than his obvious talent. His old-school attitude. There was no beating the chest or trash-talking after those spectacular catches. It was just find the ref, give him the ball, and move on to the next play.

Big receiver with long arms
Smooth for his size
With excellent burst
Excels creating separation deep
And over the middle
Uses frame well
Catches the ball away from his body
Plucks the ball out of the air
Excellent release/tough to jam
Best on deep and in-breaking routes
Played outside and out of the slot at Colorado State
Does best work outside
But can be a deep threat from the slot
