Bucs/fins Scrimmage Updates

Agree there. Barry Jackson even posted an article yesterday saying that he spoke with someone inside the facility about tanking. It sure sounded like they want to tank but not be 0-16 and 1-15 bad haha Just like 3-13 or 4-12 bad. It sounded terrible. Just tank.

I was called a bad fan for saying I’d sign up for 0 and 16 right now.

If it gets me that top pick I’m all in. Rosen will be here but so will the teams top pick qb.

2 and 14 vs 0 and 16 means nothing to me.

2012-37
2013-58
2014-46
2015- 45
2016-30
2017- 33
2018 -52
2019- The ball is in your court again Grier

And 2016 was the best year the Dolphins had as a team by far. Goooo figure.

Spent seven years waiting to see what Tannehill would look like if he had a decent offensive line in front of him. Don’t want to spend another 7 years waiting for the same for Rosen, Tua, or whoever we draft in 2020. It’s got to stop.

Saturday’s will be fun at least.

If that chargers team doesn’t bludgeon us something’s wrong in San Diego
We play the chargers? Ravens are week 1

I wouldn't bet against flores stifling Lamar Jackson

So trading a 2nd round pick for a back up is a good move in your opinion?

Yes. Because Rosen ending up a backup is the 2nd worst case outcome. If we really do pick at the top of the draft, pick a QB, AND that player beats Rosen out, then we likely get back more than a late 2nd next year.

It's a option contact with the possible outcomes (ignoring injury possibilities):
* He's so good, we don't draft a QB (even with #1) next year -> We either get to trade out or land a blue chipper at another position
* He's good enough, but we still draft a QB next year -> More likely than not, we get more than our late 2nd invested on the looser of the playoff between the 2
* He's not a franchise starter (for us), but he might have significant value for someone else -> More likely than not, we get at least the late 2nd we invested
* He's not a franchise starter (period), but we still can get some value (more than a late 2nd) because of another team suffers an injury just at the right time
* He's a good backup -> The 2nd we invested in him starts to look pricy
* He's just not an NFL player -> we rolled the dice and lost

More like a hope and prayer than anything. If they thought he was the guy, there would have been more urgency to build around him. Or they are just terrible.

Exactly. It's hard to make fans understand things sometimes.

Rosen isn't the plan. He's only part of a bigger plan. They haven't gone all in yet on their plan in terms of the quarterback they're going to build around. They took a shot on him for a decent price in terms of trading a 2nd round pick. A 2nd round pick that they got back. It's basically a free shot.

Except it cost them potentially quality offensive lineman they could've had in the 2nd round of this draft. They weren't worried about winning games in 2019, so the reward for the potential payoff with Rosen was greater than the reward of drafting Erik McCoy to them. They're looking at the bigger picture.

The reason you don't send him out there if you have 3 guys up front whiffing every play - is to be fair to Josh Rosen. But most of all, so you don't kill what value he has left in terms of flipping him for more draft picks after you bring in YOUR plan. The guy you're going to stake your job and everybody else's jobs on.

Anybody that thinks it's just Josh Rosen and that's it they're staking their jobs on, you're underestimating these guys. They have people at practices over the past few weeks all over the country watching every single one of these 2020 quarterbacks.

When/if we get Tua I bet you'll become a bigger dolphins fan lol

I don’t like top 50 type pick trades for backups but when you are hedging your bets that’s the kinda thing that can happen.

Especially if you can land that golden ticket draft slot

Give it time.

That unit didn't look as bad in the preseason as this one did.

I don't even want to think about on Sundays

All I know about the scrimmage is from the tweets here, which isn't saying much.
I don't read 'a receiver smoked the DB and went in for the TD.' Nope, it's 'a STILLS smoked the DB and went in for the TD.'
But for line play, it's the generalized 'a run is stuffed for no gain,' or, 'Rosen was sacked.' I can understand fingering the guilty OLman may not be easy, but how about 'a run around the left side is stuffed for no gain,' or, 'Rosen was sacked by pressure up the middle.' Something to help prove the entire OL sucks, or just the left side.

On another note I’ve seen where arizona is basically running the same style offense with kyler Murray as the backup. They even are using a clapping sound to signal to the center to snap the ball just like Oklahoma did.

Miami surely won’t run a rosen style offense with a tua add or a Herbert right?

They’d have to pivot to what fits those 2 players and if that’s the case rosen likely needs to be dealt. Rpo or pistol and zone read doesn’t seem to be the way to get high bang for your buck out of rosen.

I could see one and done potential here.

It seems like this team WANTS Fitz to win the starting QB out of camp and I don’t blame them...this O-line needs some time to gel and figure things out. Until then whomever is the on field QB is at risk of a career ending injury out of the gate.

I wonder if Vegas has odds on “over the top elaborate sacks”. If so I’m laying down money on an opposing D-Lineman having time to execute a People’s Elbow on Fitzpatrick week 1.

I doubt it nick. I'll want to see Tua do well no matter where he goes.

But it'll just make me hate the Dolphins even more if they drafted him just to play him behind an FCS level offensive line.

Although unless they literally end up with the 1st overall pick, I see Jordan Love or Justin Herbert being more likely than Tua.
