Salguero - Neither Rosen Or Fitzpatrick Will Be The Dolphins Long Term Quarterback

Do you disagree? I think it’s pretty evident already that Rosen isn’t the long term solution. While he may develop into a competent starter, we are looking for an elite starter and Rosen will never be elite.

God God! You need a facepalm on this one. We need you in our scouting dept then.

i suspect only Baker Mayfield has a shot from that "loaded class." And I haven't crowned him yet.

We're praying Josh Rosen proves me wrong on that front.

You say Allen is the best QB from that class, and you say only Mahomes has as much talent in the entire league.

But Mahomes has quarterback talent. Josh Allen has athletic talent. The gap is so wide, Mahomes may be #1 QB in the league and Allen #32, and that doesn't begin to describe it.

Allen will fail, because he will never pass the football accurately enough to sustain success.

Perhaps he can utilize his "second only to Mahomes talent" by switching to fullback.
The consensus over the years is that you can teach a new QB different aspects of the game but accuracy is not one of them!

Josh Allen has been inaccurate going back to JUCO, and if his completions didn';t shine there amongst inferior competition and then again in an inferior conference, why would anyone think his progression in the pros would be appreciably better? He can run fersure but that only has obscured his throwing inabilities.

I'd take Rosen sight unseen over Allen 7 days out of the week!

Yeah, I don't get the Allen thing.

If he can't throw and he needs to run a lot to sustain drives while not being a dynamic athlete, outside of talking about Jesus a lot, honestly how is he any different than Tebow?

I remember before that draft there was this advanced analytic stat that projected quarterbacks to the NFL by giving them a score. Baker had a really high score similar to someone like Rivers. Rosen and Darnold were much lower, but Allen was in the negatives. I remember reading that no quarterback with a negative score ever turned out to be a legitimate starter and his comparisons were like Kyle Boller and JP Losman.

I'm glad Buffalo loves him, because I want them to keep him as long as possible before they realize how much time they've wasted on a quarterback who can barely throw a forward pass.

PS: He also had the highest uncatchable pass percentage in the NFL last year of ANY quarterback that played.

If you aren't good in training camp, and you aren't good in the preseason, other than looking for excuses to throw at him, why do you think he needs a regular season game to actually START the evaluation?

The same reason that Damore'ea Stringfellow isn't an All-Pro. Preseason is different than regular season. Some people perform better when the games count. Some perform worse.

Regardless, Rosen has decidedly shown improvement in TC and preseason. If he stops improving long-term, and isn't good enough, fine, move on. But I'm pretty sure there's some middle ground between half of a preseason game and "This is how we wasted seven years on Tannehill! Dump Rosen now, because I've seen all I need to!"

Never said that. My point was that really good quarterbacks generally destroy practices and preseason games, so they count. How often do QBs look mediocre at best during the offseason and all of a sudden pop off when the regular season starts? I'm willing to bet not very many.

None.

To say Fitzpatrick is not a long term answer is stating the obvious. To say Rosen is not a long term answer is a bit premature. I can tell you Tampa Bay thought Steve Young was a bust many years ago so they traded him to San Francisco and the rest was history. Funny what being surrounded by talent can do for a QB.

Regardless, all we heard going into the offseason was that the Dolphins front office has a plan and the first part of that plan was to build the offensive and defensive lines first and then add pieces along the way. The minute they traded down in the 2nd round and then traded for Rosen they deviated from that plan. They had a shot at taking a pretty good Center before they traded down, they took an unathletic OG in the 3rd...a guy who's RAS number equate to career backup but I suppose that's par for the course for this front office that hasn't gotten it right this century.

Of course I'm still angry about them taking Gesicki over Goedert a couple years ago. That was just plain idiotic.

Goedert does look good. And he’s becoming an excellent poa and in line blocker

Real duel threat which is what I’ve always wanted in the position

Not slugs and cup cakes

Could've had him....... upsetting

and I still wish we had picked McCoy instead of trading our 2nd thisyear too

Gesicki does look like his feet are under him more this year. So that should help. Maybe make a few more plays. But I think it’s gonna come down to how much is he gonna lose physically at the catch point and top of routes etc. if teams show up and feel like they can put a corner across from him and shut him down we are in trouble.

And I’m really sniffing that’s the route teams will go til he makes them pay for it

I think this team has more redzone options this year. Preston looks like an automatic win, Gesicki should be but he wasnt really used correctly and the one time I recall he was he was pushed away. Maybe he bulked up a little this year. And parker is a high catch point guy too if he's motivated

I’m expecting Preston to play a good amount in the red and tight red. And maybe be a primary iso red zone target.

I don’t know how much he will play between the 20s unless it’s long down and distances.

Really? Perhaps you should be heading our scouting department because you must see something nobody else does.
Have you actually watched Rosen play? What do you see that screams franchise QB?
