I thought that this was supposed to struggle any way, winning games only hurts the fins chances of landing another rookie QB next season. If this team has success then it should be with Rosen because he has a chance to be the future, they can't start old ass fitzpatrick and still lose games, you guys have to make up your mines Win or not to Win, that is the question.

I loved the Wilkins pick, but I tend to agree with some of our resident draft experts that doing more to convert that pick into 2 or 3 picks, and address the oline, would have been ideal for this franchise going forward, especially with Rosen and/or the potential 2020 QB.

But it's done now, just like Minkah over James . . . These are damn good, versatile players who will be rocks on this defense for many years to come.

I dont know that anyone was willing to trade with how the draft fell. I thought for sure we could have traded back for someone to grab online but there was never a rush on them.

There was a lot of smoke that Miami could of moved off the 13 pick, even had a deal in place, but valued Wilkins too much in the end.

Of course no one really knows so to your point that could of been the situation as well.

I think they took the best guy in the end for what they want to do on defense.

I think Rosen us a laser focused guy when he plays and practices. This is interpreted the wrong way because Flores may have never seen his type of personality or is uncomfortable with it. I can see why fitzpatricks emotional, cheery attitude is more attractive to the coach.

The big thing we need to see is if Rosen has a bad attitude overall and that reflects his play like jay Cutler. or it's his natural demeanor like Aaron Rodgers. That and being subjected to the crap o-line play of or backup tackles will get anyone kissed. The only difference is Rosen could perform while fitzpatrick could not
Well, if I recall leadership was one of the first things Flores mentioned in regards to a quarterback. Although, maybe that was Grier that said that. I will say Flores got to witness Brady year in and year out. If that's his model, Miami will likely still be searching. But, I do want to see how Rosen progresses. Things could change if the light goes on.

totally agree with KDawg … been saying that since we picked him up … at least give him a fair shot at success, since last year was a total waste …

think most folks saw how good ARI is thus far with that O=Line … that is soul crushing …

I mean I think A LOT of Flores' way of handling Rosen has to do with his/his team's way of coaching/motivating him.

Kid basically needed to be rebuilt mentally, and that is ok. He is only 22. Hell we drafted Tannehill and he was 24 as a starting rookie.

This isn't happening overnight and overanalyzing every mistake, every play he is a half second too slow and all that other stuff his detractors seem to like to do just makes no sense.

It's why Fitzpatrick will likely start the season. Rosen is still a work in progress and having him watch Fitzpatrick for a few weeks and continue to work in practice is all part of a process to put him in the best spot for success. Him potentially "not winning" the week one start literally means nothing in the greater picture.

What we saw from Rosen this week had to make coach Flo smile a bit. Body language was real good, he made good decisions, threw the ball well . . . He was executing what was in front of him. Coach still threw that nugget out there about stepping up to avoid sacks . . . And that is proper. Pocket presence is good but keep working to make it great. Especially with this line. How he handles potentially not being the week 1 starter will be very telling in this overall process.

Look at the schedule. Those first 4 games are no joke. Then you have a bye week and are at home against one of your more winnable games against Washington. If Fitzpatrick is struggling or the team is in general struggling . . . It's the perfect time to insert Rosen and see what we have with him this year.

Patience is needed, not 7 year patience, but more than what some have given him so far.

There is A LOT to like with him
I agree all is not lost if Rosen isn't the opening day starter. In fact, it might be for the best. See how the line progresses, get past some of the tough opponents etc. Right now, my main concern isn't quarterback (short-term anyway), it's that horrible offensive line.

There was a report that someone offered a 2020 1st round pick to trade up with Miami. It's believed to have been Philadelphia. I understand the argument for acquiring more picks to address the numerous roster shortcomings. But in Wilkins, Miami got a versatile player, who happen to have a coach, who's coached him before and vouched for him. I'd have loved it if Miami would have made that supposed trade, but am rooting for Wilkins because his play is the type that can elevate the DLine group as a whole. And in the 2 preseason games so far, the 1st string DLine has been very stout. Can't complain.

Flores can Nab his QB next year if he feels he needs one. Could just be a message to a young player from his Coach. Remember Flores is a product of BB and New England. He probably will never gush over any player on this team- EVER.

That's actually a smart business practice. Typically gushing causes complacency issues and huge egos..
Pat on the back, promotion, bonus or a pay raise is all any man or woman should really need in business to prove your value.

Gushing= Meh. Always room for improvement.

Yay- i'm done. lol

That first sentence in the last paragraph....but Minkahs fine. I just wish they would just put him somewhere. Everytime we get a promising young player, we overload him, or play him outta position for a season. & then hes a jag for his tenure. Commit to a spot. Play as needed.

MTE. All week long the story was about Rosen's body language. Yet Ryan's body language in yesterday's game was atrocious (he looked like Cutler at times) and I don't see anyone focusing on that.

I get that playing behind a ****ty OL can do that to someone. And he was clearly not having a good time playing with the backups. But this whole "body language" narrative with Josh has become too much, imo.
I think it's just stupid honestly.

Keyword..., “Redskins” are gushing.

Look... I don’t care if you put Tom Brady behind this line... he’s going to get killed.

I’ve seen enough from Rosen to know he has a great arm... when his adjustment to reading NFL defenses gets there and his line is adequate I feel this kid can play.

Now... if there is a “transformative” QB sitting there in round one....I’m not opposed to having 2 tickets at the franchise QB lottery.

Flores does seem to coach... and use methods to motivate...I have zero doubt he is pushing Josh Rosen.

even though I think Rosen is the starter now... I would still Start Fitz the first 4 games behind this line... we don’t need Rosen getting destroyed physically and mentally. Gives the line a chance to improve.... and gives him a bearable opponent for confidence.

I would not look to far into Flores not "gushing" over Rosen. I think that this is one of the traits he pick up from the Patriots. You ever see Belichick gushing over one of his players? Hell, I think he still tells the media that Brady needs to improve. The only players he gushes over are his opponents on game week.
