Source Indicates That The Dolphins And Jakeem Grant Are Close To A 4-year Contract Extension

Even though he's a liability on offense in both the pass & run game, he would've been the #2 kick returner & the #1 punt returner in the NFL had he qualified.

I can’t believe people are complaining about the timing.

IF they want him long term, this is the time to do it with a cheap year left on his contract.

That usually helps drive the overall cost down.

Also, you have no guarantee you can keep him if he plays out his contract.

It doesn’t mean you need to overpay. Traditionally, teams underpay by doing this. Player gets security. So do we.

I can’t compare this to the Jones situation. Wasn’t he coming off the second season in a row with a shoulder injury? And didn’t he have multiple years left on his contract?

It's Finheaven. Complaining is the norm.

Positive news for a good player and it's an issue....sigh.

If they like what they’ve seen in practice and TC and think he can pick up where he left off last year they could be getting a jump on the contract situation while they can get a more team friendly deal. I hope that’s the case.

Can’t recall the patriots signing a guy to a long term extension coming off a season ending major injury (torn Achilles right?) controlled for that season at dirt money.

Doesn’t seem very patriot like to me.

The guy can play. As a 4th or 5th option for an offense, he adds another dimension that can be impactful for 4-5 more years at least.

I like the player and I think he's a great personality for the team as well.

Game changer. I hope he stays healthy obviously.
