Flores Indicates That Rosen Is Not Ready Yet... (merged 3x)

At this point, Im just going to lay off on the absolutely start Rosen narrative. When the line moves against you, its usually not an opportunity to double up, its just flat out telling you you're wrong... In this case, kdawg, CK, Slimm and J-off all agree rosen shouldnt start... So Im just going to shut my mouth on that particular subject and move on...

You have every right to question the disjointed mess this franchise seems to be. What is the goal for this season? The vision of where this franchise is going has to come from the owner and the GM. Of course the head coach is going to put the best players on the field and is going to coach and game plan to try and win every game he can, and that's why the front office should have taken the decision of what to do at QB out of his hands. Once they traded for Rosen, they should have cleared the deck for him to play by releasing Fitzpatrick. They should have had a clear vision of what this season was going to be about. You are right about them wasting a resource on Rosen and not playing him. Rosen is in his second year. Why isn't he ready to play? My God. I'm afraid that the only hope for this franchise is if they luck into finding a transformational QB and he somehow overcomes this incompetence.

I think the QBs have looked about equal with Rosen having a couple more of the shouldn't have thrown that pass that kind of worked out. I think to start the season, Fitz will be given the nod based on decision making.

There's nothing wrong with the HC telling the new guy he needs to earn a starting role...

The are a couple of simple facts fans need to get straight.

1) Rosen doesn't need to ever take a snap in an NFL game for the coaches to "evaluate" him. He only needs to play in a televised game for casual fans to evaluate him.

2) This coaching staff doesn't care about the casual fan's evaluation of one of their quarterbacks. They trust their own eyes more.

Great post, and very true.

I would also add that I want a generational talent at QB running this offense for a very long time. If Rosen isn’t going to be that person, than I don’t care if he ever sees the field. If he is going to be that person, than there is no reason to stunt his growth or damage him by forcing him to start day one if Flores thinks it’s ill-advised.

Rosen is the future starter and that is not even a question. There is no reason not to showcase Fitzpatrick before the trade deadline and let Rosen get into the games that count when the offensive line is more settled, after a couple of road games, film study, further practice and game plan installation meetings, and being properly brought along until the bye week. I think that has been the plan since he was acquired and hasn’t wavered. The coach is not all over the place. He has to say there is competition, he has to say the right things publicly and leave our opponents guessing about who they are preparing for while it is one of the tangible things to gain a scintilla of an edge. The armchair coaches on here can speculate all you want, in Flores I trust.

Sorry, another thread on Rosen:surr:

Davie (CBS12) — Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores won't confirm that the quarterback battle has been decided, but if you read between the lines, it would seem Ryan Fitzpatrick will be QB1 at the start the regular season.

Watch Video: Sun Sentinel beat writer Safid Deen helps us break down what Flores hasn't seen yet from second year NFL quarterback Josh Rosen yet, and why Fitzpatrick seems to be the better fit at this point.

In fact I think the falcons coach disliked him so much he played him so he would fail. I can't remember the entire detail, I think it was on A Football Life?

oh Glanville (the coach of the Falcons back then) hated the Favre pick. I don't remember exactly what he said back then but it was something to the extend that it required a car or train crash to put Favre in. Glanville wanted Nagle. I remember that because the Jets drafted Nagle a pick or two later and were elated and "so lucky" that the Falcons picked the loser Favre and the Jets got their "franchise QB" who will give Kelly and Marino a run for their money.

I’m a big Flo fan but I have zero use for Ryan Fitzpatrick. Complete waste of time and space. If you’re going to let James walk and start two rookie guards and make zero effort to upgrade the center position just go with Rosen and Rudock. No reason for Fitz to be on the final 53.

I like the way Flores is handling things. The starting job must be earned not inherited. This thread is the epitome of absurd. I like Flores more than any of our coaches since Shula thus far. This guy is the real deal.

lol. Our fans amuse me.

Fans like you would have tried to run Shula out of town.

Clueless.

I would have ran Shula out of town once he became GM and refused to fire Olivadatti.
