Flores Indicates That Rosen Is Not Ready Yet... (merged 3x)

Just curious. I'll give you Grier made the trade. Do you think he asked the advice of Flo and staff before the trade? Do you think he told them the cost (picks) before the trade? Do you think they gave an indication, at minimum, they'd accept the trade? If so, Flo et al had a number of chances to pan the trade, unless Grier is the dictator.
That Flores was excluded from Miami's war room during the draft would be a bit of a story if it were so. We saw how it played out on the Cardinals end...14:50 mark

I don't believe for a minute that Flores was not on board with this. I wouldn't really be in Grier's best interest to ram a QB down the new HCs throat. If he doesn't show results quickly (3 yrs max), he is likely out of a job.

I also have a comment about those who are saying we "wasted" a 2nd rounder. The actual fallout after the two 2nd round swaps was the net loss of a few 2nd round slots, deffered until next year, and a 5th.

It's not really honest to just say je cost a 2nd and 5th. Technically, that is true, but not when seen as a part of the bigger picture.

I would propose that the extra 2020 2nd rounder might prove almost as valuable as the one we traded away if we are tyring to move up for a QB, or anything else for that matter.

Let me put to you this way - In Miami's structure, Grier will take input from several different people. He'll work closer with the offensive coaches in terms of input for offensive players that fit their system, and defensive coaches for potential players that fit their system. I doubt Brian Flores knew much about Josh Rosen to have much input. He was busy coaching the Patriots and devising game plans all year up to the Superbowl. He wasn't watching Josh Rosen.

After Flores was hired, they all had months to watch film of Rosen, talk to people, and become a little more familiar with him - and everyone give their own input in terms of what value they felt was suitable for Rosen. This was kicked around for months before it happened.

Brian Flores doesn't coach quarterbacks. What he's observing are the intangibles. He wants to know Rosen is ready to LEAD the team. Not just be ready to play football.

But draft picks and compensation regarding trades fall squarely on Chris Grier. That's his job. It's not the coaches job to determine compensation. They can suggest whatever they want, but it's ultimately up to Grier.

The head coach decides who stays and who goes and who plays and who doesn't. However, Grier can override Flores in terms of cuts if it effects the cap in a way he doesn't want it to. At the moment, they all came in with the same big picture plan in mind. They're sticking to that plan. You're all making much too big of a deal in regards to Rosen and that plan.

The first job of an NFL GM is to protect the owner's money. Period. He ultimately makes the final decision on anything in Miami's structure when it comes right down to it.

So my question to you is this - who do you believe is responsible for draft picks and compensation? The coaches or Chris Grier? Don't give me the collaborative effort copout. That bull**** has infected conversation for way too long. There is somebody who ultimately makes the decisions and pulls the trigger. It's up to Grier what input he takes in and what input he disregards.

Input can come from all over. It even comes from homeless people on the street according to Jimmy Haslam and the Cleveland Browns when they drafted Johnny Manziel.

That's right. They'll literally blame it on a homeless person if it helps to pass the buck.

Now more than ever, Chris Grier makes those decisions. He is the head of the organization.

There have been reports that say people are pleasantly surprised how much input he's taking from Brian Flores and the coaches, even though Flores is a first-time coach, but the simple fact of the matter is Chris Grier makes those calls. All of them.

Chris Grier had well respected Marvin Allen, Jim Caldwell and Reggie McKenzie to consult with on the Rosen trade. It may or may not have been "collaborative" with Flores, but you can bet your bottom dollar it was collaborative with Allen, McKenzie and Caldwell!

100% truth. The main point in all this. Flores is just the football coach who knew absolutely very little about Josh Rosen. He knows a little more now though.

Grier is taking input from a lot of those guys now too in regards to prospects all over the country. Including quarterbacks.

This regime is not going to ride or die with Josh Rosen and that 2nd round pick.

I'm done now - getting ready for some high school football and the college football season. It's been a pleasure talking Dolphins with you all.

You guys have a wonderful year.

Stick around Ted please. You make the forum smarter, but no one is right all the time, not even me about Matt Ryan back then...

Anyway, to add on to what I just posted, it's extremely possible that chad O'Shea knew more about Rosen as it's alleged Belichick was interested in him at the time we made the trade and earlier on. Not saying he did, but not discounting that possible insight either, especially for someone who has seen the GOAT up close and personal for several years, day in and day out.

You had me at Matt Ryan. I will stay.

{I was coming back to collect my $100 bill + fees & inflation anyway}

I didn’t need to hear from coach, the player has been telling us this all offseason and through the preseason..

People hatin on Flo before we've played one game of any meaning and NO FINAL decision has been made.

Let the man do what he was hired to do.....coach.

Dude, this is Miami, where head coaches generally make dumb decisions, so they don't get the benefit of the doubt went their decision has no merit when we can see the only results that matter which are on the field.

Ryan Fitzpatrick is sucking complete balls for the third week in a row. Rosen has shown the capability to move this team.
