Merged Ronnie Brown just ran 4.32

Those comparisons are awful.

Brown= Brian Westbrook+ Marshall Fualk . May or may not be an everydown back, but is a great receiver and can run more complicated routes.

Benson= Edge + Ricky. Shifty in the open field and when finding holes, shows great balance and vision, with the extra gear to turn it up when going to the outside.

Williams= Curtis Martin + LT. Great vision, keeps his legs moving, balanced, and has surprising power for his size.

Why does everyone ignore the obvious comparison between Cedric Benson and Ricky Williams? I mean seriously guys, they are like clones on the field and Cedric even modeled himself for Ricky on the field. But your comparison of Cadillac to Curtis Martin and LaDainian Tomlinson is dead-on.

As for Ronnie Brown, dare I say that the NFL does not furnish an accurate comparison for him? I don't think it does. What NFL back runs with genuine, GENUINE 4.3 speed on a 6' 230+ lbs frame, is a former fullback and blocks extremely well, and has a better feel for the passing game than most any other runningback in his class? I like the Deuce McAllister comparison best because Deuce has a good feel for the passing game, is about Ronnie's size, and definitely has some speed but his speed is not Ronnie Brown's speed. So, I guess, a FASTER Deuce McAllister, with maybe less injury issues.

Ronnie Brown = Deuce McAllister meets Brian Westbrook + PCP

Cadillac Williams = Curtis Martin meets LaDainian Tomlinson - soft receiving hands

Cedric Benson = Ricky Williams (New Orleans) meets Ricky Williams (Miami)

The Brown comparison is awful in terms of running styles, but decent in terms of receiving skills. Westbrook and Faulk are shiftier backs without a lot of power... Brown is more of a one cut and explode back who can break the big runs and pick up the short yardage plays. I think the Tomlinson/Dillon mix is a more accurate comparison (Dillon running style with Tomlinson receiving skills).

Point well-taken, perhaps I would revise my Ronnie Brown...

Ronnie Brown = Jamal Lewis meets Brian Westbrook

No that doesn't make sense. Ronnie Brown can run people over, but he doesn't run like a battering ram like Lewis. Westbrook is shiftier than Brown and shorter.

I'm telling you a better Deuce McAllister is the most accurate comparison.

How far off base would I be if i said....

C.Williams = M.Faulk (vision/cutting ability/shiftyness) not as good a receiver yet

R.Brown = A. Green (slasher/speed) better hands tho

C.Benson= Edge/R. Williams (I like that comparison)

Your point is well taken...BUT..those other guys (Like John Avery) for example were speedsters who played RB..this is a different case with Brown..he's clearly a very capable RB who happens to have great speed..this was the only question mark on him..and he's come trhough
Brown's speed has never been a question mark. It's been known for quite some time he has excellent speed and was probably the fastest of the 3 top RBs.

General Tso is right it never was a question. We all guessed Brown's speed to be a 4.45 which for his size would have been solid-very good numbers.

My prediction is that now San Francisco will take him with the first pick. How can they not?

Because Barlow is one of the only good young playes on their team. What's the point, I think your just assuming too much about S.F.

I'm telling you, he has a LOt of Edge in him. The way he slides around the Line of scrimmage trying to find the hole, and how he cuts in the open field. Not to mention the great balance he had. As far as Ricky goes, He looks like him running in the open field, when he jumps to the outside he has that extra gear, and the way he puts his head down in situations.

I like your Jamal + Westbook comparison.

This is incredible.

We gotta go RB with the #2 pick. There are 3 elite guys here. We can't pass up a franchise rusher.

Anyone know if the combine stuff is going to get replayed on NFL network? I had to work this morning. :(
re-airs tonight at 8 Eastern....so I guess for you it'd be at 7
