SO true. Playcalling is overcriticisized across the league by fans and media. Hindsight, easy target. That's a general observation - not a specific defense of McD, as to the extent play calls do matter, his could be improved for sure. As could lots of other real time game time stuff obviously. Right now McD's strengths come through most in August...and April...and game week prep.
OT - I've used the phrase "Super Bowls are won in August" so often in football, other sports, business, and just life. False in a literal sense of course, but a core value of mine figuratively.

Yeah I thought that guy in Philly was some untouchable GM as well? That's what many suggest.

What's the confusion? Everyone on the football side reports to Grier who then reports to Ross and now Garfinkel.
What other person in the NFL, other than Andy Reid, has the entire football operations report to them that doesn't own the team?
It's why Grier is like teflon, because the only person, and thereby narrative, on the football side reporting to Ross is Grier.
