Innnnnnnnn CAP HELL!!

That is fine but in a few weeks who is going to be left to look at. we already lost Jordon. Please I know Saban is a smart guy but I think he also might be a a little too cautious. We need alot on this team so I understand the need for strategy but don't under estimate the need to make desicions quickly. But for now I think saban has made good moves and I like him alot. I just hope he dosent wait to long to make the right moves cap room or no cap room

Clumpy if you are reading this can you give us the goods on just how much dead cap we will have for this year ( estimate of course ) please.

First, I agree that we are in cap hell, until and unless Surtain is traded. Some folk here think that it's a no brainer and we'll get a 2nd for him - at least. I don't think it's that easy as teams are not as likely to give up a pick and pay HUGE bucks to the guy.

Second, if Surtain does get traded, then, with the others either renegotiating or being released, we would be okay. But, as above, that's a big IF.

Third, I'm not sure Saban would go after the big name guys if we did have $10-12 million under the cap. I think he would definitely be more apt to sign some guys. But, I also think he'd still go after the mid-level guys at this point and see how the draft pans out. That's more the Belichick way and I think Saban probably agrees.

Just my opinion.

We still have people on here thinking Saban has dropped the ball by not running after every free-agent available.

They are being foolish and should be ignored.

It may be the case that the best move this offseason is no moves. If we don't find value out there this year then it may be smart to wait till next year and see what comes up. As has been stated many times, this is a process and will take time. Even though it would be nice, our SB odds will be a lot better in two years than they are next year and so on. Hopefully in a three or four years time we can start the season as the SB favorites and actually go out and win one.

$3,614,289 under an "unadjusted" salary cap of $85.5 million not including Boston,D.Bowens and Mc Intosh.Do any of you remember when R.Speilman stated that we did not have a cap problem.? I wonder what team he was talking about.?

We do need a lot on this team...and thats the very reason Saban isnt going nuts in FA. You overpay in FA. Thats just the way it is. If you take the attitude "cap room or no cap room" then you end up with a few overpaid FA's and no money to sign your draft pics, who are the real future for your team. Also, remember that there will be another round of FAs available after June 1 when teams cut high priced players to spread their cap hit out. When these players become available we will have already made our draft picks and had a few minicamps so we will have a clearer idea as to what our needs are.

Dude we are not going to be very active in the FA market. As of right now there is no real need to start clearing out a bunch of cap room. We might pick up a FS or DT in FA but we are not going to be getting a bunch of players. This team is going to be built more in the draft than anything.

I hate to be negative, and I'm sure most of you are sick of reading my rants, but the June 1st cuts are nothing but "bottom of the barrel" players.... :lastyr:

PHINZ RULE!!!

Odds are it will be just like last year, but with better coaching and a promising future. :)

well yeah... the vikes are 36 mil under the cap... its called cap management and looking to the future, not just scraping under the cap each year and waiting to worry about the following year when in comes around.

No, It's called being cheap and living off of the players they had...Now the shipped Moss out of there and have some holes to fill, but the problem is their cheapskate, lame-duck owner who won't spend any cash...
