Being a Dolfan all my life, it's hard to see the negatives with your team. You always want to be optimistic. I still am; however, my concern is that the losses will pile up, and when our offense (hopefully) starts to gel as a unit, it will be too late. I hope I'm wrong. I hope they get their act together next week. Anything is possible, but I don't think it's likely that they can get it turned around that quickly because:
-We only have one starter back on our OL, and he's only in his 2nd year...the coaching staff didn't even intend to play him this early..he's still raw. There's a reason why he was a 3rd round pick. The rest of the OL is young, and they haven't been together long enough. It takes awhile for an OL to become a cohesive unit....we also don't have Konrad.
-Three critical skill positions on offense our new, Feeley, Booker, and Gordon. AJ hasn't been with his unit long enough. Booker and Gordon in a perfect world wouldn't even be starting right now. They don't know the entire playbook....we're in a desperate situation, so we have to throw them out there.
The reason why we're 0-2 isn't necessarily because we're a bad team. I believe they just need to work together more, and wait for Konrad. The Titans game was winnable. The Bengals game was winnable. Our offense is losing us games because they're being "thrown into the fire".
Random thoughts while watching the game:
-Brightful needs to be cut ASAP. Yes, he almost won us the game, but a KR/PR can lose more games than win if he has terrible ball handling skills.
-I'm giddy every time the other team is about to punt. Bua is getting closer and closer to blocking a punt.
-I'm convinced more now than ever. Wanny is wayyy too conservative. It's blinding how obvious it is. We're aching for a new coaching staff. First down. Run. Second down. Run. NOTHING HAS CHANGED. If I, Joe Dutchmaster, can sit in a sports bar and predict what's going to happen, then that's sad. 2&13 and you RUN the ball?
- McMichael is still a beast.
- Feeley will be good. Powerful arm. Very accurate. He's still very raw, and he'll continue to throw picks this year. Get used to it.
- Lamar Gordon can't get a break. Looks like last year. He keeps getting stuffed by D lineman.
- Starting Easlik at FB is window dressing. We don't use him, and it's hurting our offense.
- Chambers is still a major threat at WR, but I know he must be very frustrated. He's not getting the ball enough.
- Is Wade smith really that bad, or is #90 from the Bengals (forgot his name) really that good? :hmmm:
- So this is what a developing offense looks like, huh? [sigh]...pass the blunt. It's gonna be a long season.
- Antuan Edwards is a legitimate playmaker. Sorry Arturo, the business sucks. But it's the business you've chosen.
- Sammy Knight is still crackin' heads..
- Zach, JT, and Seau are still elite. Are you sure you want Seau gone next year? :hmmm:
- Will Poole started and held his own vs the Bengals' WRs.
- The SkyCam is excellent. Makes you feel like you're playing NFL 2K5.
Make no mistake. I'll still be rooting just as hard next Sunday. :cooldude:
