1-15... 7-9... 11-5... 13-3 (SB Winner)... 12-4 (SB Winner)... Dallas Cowboys... 1989 - 1993... people need to chill.

JJ had a helluva college pedigree Flores has a Billcheat pedigree all of his assistant do well :wall

It's early but we'll know by 233k 6-8 if this is colossal cluster flock.

And ALL OF THIS STARTED... with a 1-15 season.
Also don't forget in the 11 years since our own 1-15 finish we've gone 87-91 with two winning seasons and zero playoff wins, so even if we don't follow the Cowboy's path there's something else to look forward to.

The TITLE says it all. People need to chill.

In 1988 the Cowboys were a woeful 3-13 in Tom Landry's last season as head coach. Their only star player (to be)... a rookie by the name of Michael Irvin.

In 1989 they get Jimmy Johnson and they go... 1-15. But they add a quarterback from UCLA called Troy Aikman (and a few other guys that would go on to a few Pro Bowls). Aaaaand... they ALSO trade Herschel Walker for a bevy of draft picks (sound familiar?).

In 1990 they draft Emmitt Smith - the offensive trifecta is set: Irvin, Aikman, and Smith.

In 1991 they draft - count 'em - EIGHTEEN picks with draft gems like Russell Maryland, Leon Lett and Erik Williams. The DEFENSE stiffens and the Offensive Line gets an ANCHOR.

In 1992... SUPER BOWL.

In 1993... SUPER BOWL.

And ALL OF THIS STARTED... with a 1-15 season.

BTW... Jimmy Johnson's first game that year was a 0-28 drubbing at the hands of a New Orleans Saints team that would finish the season a pedestrian 9-7. Also, the Cowboys would go on to get SHUT OUT another 2 times that year... 0-15 at the Giants... and a humiliating 0-27 at home against the hated Eagles.

So with all of the above said... I would argue that those who are freaking out need to either A) take a chill pill or B) find another team to root for.

Im sure the Browns and Lions were thinking the same things years ago when they were winless. But look at them now..... Still suck. Not even a playoff win.

Well, If what you wrote were actually correct, I would have to admit you made a good point, but it's not, and you don't.

Miami will have a huge salary cap, and a ridiculous amount of picks in the next two years that you have to go all the way back to the Cowboys to compare.

It's correct, but you're free to post actual information that says otherwise and not just spewing spittle over your screen.

Dallas got the steal of the century from the Walker deal.

Jimmy purposely didn't play the players acquired in that deal to get even more draft picks.

They also got lucky in that their first overall that became Aikman was truly a franchise QB and not some spread one read QB.

Jimmy was also at his peak at coaching, where he was truly into being a head coach and had that fire. Dallas also had some talent on the offensive line that Jimmy was able to coach up.

It's possible that it can happen again, but odds are not on your side.

Already gave the info, not going to look for it for you. Believe what you want, though.

Oh......and I thought I'd add..........Will Mike Lynn be dropping by to do his part on this rebuild too? :)

That is not a viable model for building an NFL franchise today. It wasn't a viable model then either. It was an outlier. Never done before; never done since. There are numerous factors that applied to that situation that don't apply here. 1) We have free agency, Jimmy Johnson didn't need to contend with yearly roster loses not of his own doing or a cap. 2) They didn't tank, they were already awful when he got there. 3) The roster already had lots of talent: Michael Irvin, Nate Newton, Bill Bates, Mark Tuinei, Kelvin Martin, Kevin Gogan, Jim Jeffcoat and Ken Norton were already there. They got Aikman, Wiesnieski, Stepnoski, Daryl Johnston and Tony Tolbert from the 89 draft, nothing to do with high picks acquired in trades, just exceptional scouting. I'm sorry Bill Polian or Ozzie Newsome ain't running this front office.

The Jets, a .500 team at the time had 6 first rd picks and 2 seconds in 3-years 2000-02. 2003 they were 6-10! The Browns between 2012-18 had 13 first round picks and 16 seconds! They won 7 games last year and they ain't close to contention regardless of what the media says. The Lions had 5 first rd. picks and 3 seconds between 2009-11. How'd that work out? This is fool's gold. There is a reason NFL teams don't tank, because once you put a heavy plane in a nose dive close to the ground, it's hard to pull it up.

For it to work you need a GM with an exceptional eye for talent, which there's plenty of evidence Grier does not.

2020 Chris Grier is going to tell 2013 Jeff Ireland to hold his beer

There's no need to personally attack him for making his point, rebut with facts if you have any, not insults. We're all Phins fans around here.

We don't have the front office, nor the coaching staff the cowboys had. So yeahhh can't blame most of us PHINs fans for not being as optimist as the OP.

What about the facts I presented confused you?
Nothing confusing at all other than the fact you have opposing views and you are not very respectful in your response. It's ok to disagree but don't attempt to demean him in the process. There's simply no reason for that.

So are you going on record saying that The Dolphins will make the superbowl after a few years? And also are you comparing Coach Flores to Jimmy Johnson?
