Biggest bust of all time? Are you kidding??
Unless they are talking specifically about the Lions there is NO WAY his name should come up.
Was he great? No... Was he good? No... Was he average? Maybe....
Biggest Busts of all time...???????
Whomever decided that has NO credibility with me!

Sorry, that title should say biggest FA bust.

I know he wasnt great at all but didnt the lions go 8- 8 one year with him?? Wich if you asked any lions fan they would take that in a heart beat they are just so consitently bad amazing really

I don't know what criteria they used but if they named Scott Mitchell the biggest FA bust of all-time, then I'm positive the people at NFLN are pretty clueless. Mitchell twice led the Detroit Lions to the playoffs including throwing for over 4,000 yards in his second season in the Motor City.

Scott Mitchell was by no means a great player but he definitely wasn't the biggest free agent bust of all time.

That's kind of odd. How can he be considered a bust at all... let alone the no. 1 bust of alltime? He led the Lions to the playoffs twice and they haven't made it since. Plus he had one great season and two other decent seasons with the lions.

Mitchell led them to the playoffs twice by going 10-6 in his second season and 9-7 in his fourth season. They lost in the first round in both times.

DId they forget about Ryan Leaf and Joey Harrington. Or even Eddie Moore

Ryan Leaf was a bigger bust. Curtis Enis and Akili Smith come to mind as well.

They weren't free agents that signed big contracts, but I wonder where Alvin Harper was on that list... and how about Larry Brown and Dexter Jackson (both super bowl mvps?

Alvin Harper and Larry Brown were on there. Don't remeber where though.

Bret Favre comes to my mind...

ed hartwell for the falcons. 6 year deal, 26 million, played in only 13 games and got 1 sack.

Maybe as a Free Agent, SM was a bust. But, he did sign w/ the Lions where average careers go to die.

However, Ryan Leaf springs right to mind as does Tony Mandarich.
