This is why I think we will not pay big bucks for a solid WR. Think about it Randy Moss did not get the vikings far, with the raiders lost super bowl, with the patriots lost super bowl. How bout T.O, didn't go far with the niners, with the eagles lost super bowl, with the cowboys tore team apart. Chad johnson well the bengals are far from good. steve smith with the panthers lost super bowl and lost playoff game this year. Larry fitzgerald and anquan with the cards lost superbowl. Calvin johnson with the lions, 0-16 says it all. Don't get me wrong we need good WR's but don't need to pay big bucks for one.

We had marino and didn't win a superbowl, I guess we didn't need him either. See where i'm going here? a better WR will give us a better chance of winning games. Goes for any position on that field.

I think we should get are defense better before we pay for a big name WR

A number one receiver could help us, but a dominant line would help us more :D

Every good team has to have at least one go-to WR. Someone that can be counted on for a big play, get the first down, etc. While they might not be one of the top 3 elite WR's listed in the league, they are up there. While Fitz and Boldin didn't win the SB, they did help them get there. S.Holmes came on big for the Steelers 2nd half of the season as their big play guy. I think a top notch #1 WR will be important in our quest for a SB win, but right now I don't think it's the highest priority. Why? Because BP and company have other more glaring holes to fill before worrying about the glamour positions. Plus, our starting QB right now, doesn't have the big arm to throw the long pass plays, so why get someone who will be grossly underutilized. We will be a strong running and dink/dunk type of team until our future QB takes over and then they can add the #1 WR threat.

Its funny how in your arguement, you bring teams that lost a SB. Well, they got there for a chance didnt they? Also, Pats may have lost the SB 2 years ago, but the Giants did have Burress. Hes a solid #1 IMO. Colts had Harrison and Wayne, etc.....

I for one would love a #1 to be opposite Ginn. We have a lot of holes or needs, but WR is defintely on everyones list somewhere I would imagine. I personally have WR as a #3 need....if we can restore most of our o-line. If not I have WR at #4. CB, LB, o-line, then WR.

I understand your point of view, but the type of offense our Trifecta would like to run (Smash Mouth) really would benefit with a true #1 receiver and 2 or 3 above average receivers.

I can agree with you to an extent that maybe right now this offseason it might not be the #1 need. I think we need to trully get our OL secured before Our O can begin to make any strides forward. Once we get our OL fixed we can then worry about the #1 WR and settling our QB question(Whether CP can take us to the promise land or if CH is the real deal).

In the meantime they will begin plugging the glaring wholes we have on Defense.

My offseason priority is as follows:

1.CB Someone who can come in and learn in the nickel packages etc... Then can hopefully replace Will Allen in 2010.

2.OG-We still dont know if Thomas is the real deal or not, plus hes comming back from Injury. While I love Smiley, noone can deny he is not making it through full season anymore.

3.ILB- I see this position as follows: Either Channing comes back or we bring someone through FA. That spot will not be played by a rookie this year. Its pretty obvious that the other ILB position needs upgrading, but its not as glaring as a need as other positions. Akin is more then average and can hold downt he fort for the time being.

4.Safety-If bell and Hill both come back then they will be the starters. Most likely I think Bell will be back and Hill has a good chance of not comming back. If so they will have to bring someone in with experience(Free Agency) to replace him while we possibly groom a Rookie. I do hope Hilll comes back and then we do not need to address the issue aside from filling quality backups, which is needed.

5.OLB- Someone to line up opposite of Joey Porter. Is Wake the real deal? I love Roth's intensity, but unless he drastically improves this offseaon they will be looking for someone to either compete or replace him as a starter. We also need to start getting someone to learn behind JP so when his time comes they can step in.Again is Wake the real deal?

6.DE-We need more production from this position. I understand that their main concern is containment to let the LB's run around, but there needs to come more pressure from this position. Rookies did well last year, will they take the next step? Will they hit the 2nd year wall. Holliday? is getting old and his contract is getting expensive.

7.WR-IMO, Ginn does not have the ability to be a #1 in this league, He can make a great #2, used in a role similar to R. Wayne or H. Ward, but he definately still has a lot of developing to do. Bess and Camarillo are both comming into their own. But they are both the same type of player. One of these guys will not be here come 2010. London flashed his talents here and there. Again will he be able to develop? What can I say about Wilford.......... That is all.

QB- Again can CP take a team to the big show. Is Henne the real deal? What about Beck, Can he silence all the critics?

I am a bit confused as to what you meant by that comment. That was a rather nice post though. THanks.

Which WR can we throw the fade in the endzone to? A big possesion WR is a necessity in todays NFL. Ask the Giants.

You followed most of the players you mentioned with "lost super bowl"....5 times if I recall....um, whether they won or not, they made it to the big dance which is alot more than we can say after how many years? I'd take the #1 receiver any day of the week if it gets us to the dance

You beat me to it lol!

Like Chubby mentioned, there is a huge list of positions we need to fill before we address the WR position.

1. Randy Moss did not play for Oakland when they made the Super Bowl and lost. Jerry Rice and Tim Brown did however, and they were both very solid for that team when it was competitive.

2. You're argument is that the Dolphins don't need a true number 1 WR because various teams with true number 1 WR's have LOST Super Bowls? The Dolphins haven't played in a Super Bowl in 25 years so arguing that it is pointless for this franchise to get a WR who will merely take them to a Super Bowl is silly.

3. You bring up several examples of great modern day WR's who have failed to win Super Bowls, but neglect to mention those who have. Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne for example, Hines Ward twice, Tory Holt, Isaac Bruce, and even if you want to stretch back to Rod Smith. All of those guys were legitimate number ones. This isn't even mentioning guys like Michael Irvin, Jerry Rice, John Stallworth/Lynn Swann who all won multiple championships and were all great number 1 WR's.

No, the reason the Dolphins do not need a true number 1 WR is because our pass offense was far from the most concerning part of this team last season. Our FO would be better off addressing our bigger needs FIRST before improving our WR core (which is not bad).
