This is the second time this guy has come in out of shape.

IMHO this is the NFL. It is a great honor to play at this level. He has an opprotunity to be a part of the Phins, and what does he do? He comes in out of shape twice. His first year, he came in out of shape and cried when scolded for his performance. What happens this year, he comes in out of shape again. I was willing to support this guy the first time around. But the second? Its obvious that he does not care or realize what hes passing on. It shows work ethic can be more important than talent. If he gets cut, the only shame is the 6th round pick we wasted on him. Does anybody think Saban will keep him around by the 53 man cuts? I dont think so.

Does anyone think we have a larger need at DT this year? Should we look for a Vet. now that Traylor is in trouble? Wright is not a valid back-up IMO.

Give him a tissue and say bye bye to this clown.

Go Phins.

Ay Yay Yay! :shakeno: Here comes the rush to judgement police. Chill bro! :fire:

I say Wright will be fine. Lets not put all the blame on him. I didn't see where he broke a weight limit set by the team for players to report at. I didn't see the team say they had trainers distribute dietery or weight gain plans for players so that they especiallly the youngest most inexperianced guy on the team in Manny could report as wanted. It is the teams fault IMO because they took a 20 year old and didn't put enough effort into helping him adapt better than embarrassing him last year then expecting him to know everything this year. He persavered last year to look great at the end of the season and I expect him to do the same this year.

I see your point, but that doesnt change the fact he was not prepared. Do we need to hire trainers to make sure he isnt sitting on his butt at home eating donuts? My point is he knew that training camp is coming and was not prepared, that shows no discipline. I expect more and I imagine so does Saban.

I think that's a good point. Maybe they put too much responsibility on the guy. He is still really young for a professional player, so I'm willing to give him a little more slack. Hopefully though, he will learn from this mistake and be ready to go by the end of training camp.

Also, (to the original poster), it was a 5th round pick and not a 6th rounder.

It's called an opinion, probably the same way you support Bonds as a legitimate home run hitter, the steroids is just a rush to judgement.

I happen to agree that the guy has blown it, hope the door doesn't slam him in the fat @$$ when he leaves, but hey, maybe I should chill.

:goof:

We took him when he was 20 and knew he had that problem as far as work ethic is concerned. You have to do more as an org than embarress a KID. Saban said he was a project and you need to put more into projects than regular players and everyone knows that. Until Saban says that Manny disobeyed him I would relax because Manny can be a beast and showed signs last year. I love Manny and think that he needs more attention and it will pay off. Saban must have just slipped up a little but this is his first project as a NFL headcoach and like Manny hasn't learned everything YET.

He's a kid in a candy store, Give the kid a break. If he doesn't come around and get his life in order OK, Kick him to the curb. He does have a life, He just needs a little time to get his head on strait.

Go Dolphins

oh no! our 20 yr old 5th rd supplemental draft pick showed up out of shape and overweight! it's the end of the world! he'll never ammount to anything! what are we going to do?!?

Kinder Care is enrolling for summer day care maybe we could send him there for extra attention. It is amazing how personal responsibility is gone and it is up to everyone else to get this guy in shape. How many others would do everything they could to be in his position, all he needs to do is stay in shape....hmmmm thats a tough one.

:shakeno: You just don't get it. Nobody wants a DT less than 300 pounds. Take someone as young as Manny who has never had to worry about it you could at least lay down some guidelines. You blame him but what does our highest paid coaching and staffing people get paid for? I would think that letting the players know what they expect them to come into camp like would be something they could earn some money to take the time to do. What do the trainers get paid for or the strength and conditioning coaches? Blame the kid when the men that get paid and suppose to be experts in are the ones that truly fail.

I guess you get it, cause there are no guidelines what so ever, ok.:sidelol: So exactly, lets get him into day care so we can monitor everything he does because obviously he can not control himself and get into shape on his own, a real tough thing to do. While were at it why don't we try to get the "Fridge" back, then Manny will feel right at home.
</IMG> Also, I thought Football was game for MEN, not KIDS. He needs to step up and show he is committed to the program.

Go Phins.

Lighten up Francis, its very very early to jump to conclusions.

Many big people struggle with weight issues and can gain and drop weight very quickly.

It remains to be seen how Wright reacts and performs in training camp before discussions of cutting him should even cross your mind.
