Let's assume that the Dolphins go 10-6 or 9-7 and barely miss the playoff (like last year). What would you like to see happen in the offseason?

1. We have some 20 free agents at the end of the year. Do try to sign them to keep any team chemistry we may have in hopes we don't have another rough start in 2007?

2. Do we keep Mularkey? Or do we get another OC with the risk the offense will have to learn another new system?

3. Do we assume (if culpepper doesn't play again this season) that he is the "man" and leave the QB position alone in the offseason?

4. If we do assume #3 do we shop Harrington around in the offseason for potential draft picks?

5. What do we upgrade in the draft assuming a mid range pick 14-17?

6. What happens to Ricky?

I'd like to hear your opinions on this.

The thing that scares me is all of the Free agents next year. And I really hope Ricky gets his life straight even if he doesn't come back to Miami, whihc I hope he does come back.

That's what I'm worried about as well. If we have such a large overturn on the roster another slow start could be looking us in the face.

I'll take a shot at this:

1. Over the offseason, I'd try to upgrade the talent as much as possible. I think "team chemistry" is overrated.

2. If Mularkey's offense gets us 9 or 10 wins, then we should keep him, not for the sake of continuity, but because if we win 9 or 10 games, his playcalling worked. Yes, the defense has been carrying the offense, but 10 wins is a lot.

3. We have invested too much in Culpepper to give up on him after 4 games. Keep Pepper.

4. Sure, but nobody's gonna want Harrington. Maybe we'd get a 6th rounder for him. Maybe.

5. Offensive line and cornerback or maybe a WR if there is a stud on the table.

6. No one knows what will happen to Ricky. I wouldnt rely on him. Been burned twice already.

How can we?

If we win out or lose 1 how can we not keep harrington and start him next year? I don't care what the stats say, winning is winning. I am not a harrington fan, but if we can win with him we would be dumb to let him go. he is 3-3 as a starter. If he ends up 9-3 or 8-4 as a starter you gotta keep him.

Do you really want to keep Mularkey if his Offense continues to average ~15 points a game.

Our defense scored more points than our offense tonight, which TBH is kind of pathetic.

Now I know a win is a win, and I'm not raggin on the offense, but there will come a day (hopefully not soon) when our defense isn't going to be able to win the games for us and our offense will have to step up. So far this year, (under mularkey) I haven't seen it.

1. we sign the ones who performed and who arent asking for ridiculous sums of money. you have to weigh price vs contribution, i think we might see some of the older pricier guys like Holliday not come back.

2. if we win 10 games, we should keep Mularkey, i truly believe he has been hampered first by our shoddy o line and second by having to tailor the playbook to Harrington to help him make quick reads. if he must go, then promote from within to keep the same system.

3. Culpepper is 'the man' right now. even when he played hurt he was still good for 250 yards and 1 td a game, now add in some of the recent success we have seen with Ronnie and the O line, and i think we'll be working out the problems, not to mention Chambers and Booker will have over a year by the start of next season to build chemistry with Daunte.

4. We dont shop Harrington yet. with questionmarks still surrounding Culpepper we need a capable backup and Harrington has proved he is that. if someone offers us a 3rd or 4th rounder i say take it and look at someone like a Kyle Boller to replace Harrington (i dont know if Boller himself is a FA, but someone along those lines, starting experience, wont lose games, serviceable)

5. we upgrade the cornerback position in the first round, get a playmaker in there, i'm tired of seeing our guys get flagged for PI and getting beat by more talented wide recievers, i like Goodman and Daniels just fine, but i want someone who is going to get their name called a few times a game, so i say we draft Antoine Cason from University of Arizona to be that guy for us. and then address LB in the second and OL in the third.

6. Ricky...hmm, well, i think Ricky will come back, and i think he will still be a workable back. however, i also think the team will be EXTREMELY sceptical of him and not put any reliance on him and possibly draft a RB in round 4/5 to hopefully back up Ronnie and play on special teams.

This has been addressed in multiple threads, but Joey cannot hit a moving target. Its amazing. Almost all of his completions are comebacks and short outs. Whenever he tries to hit a guy on thr run, he throws it over their heads.

Oh, Gus Frerotte finished the season 6-0 and we promptly showed him the door.

I don't even want to think going 10-6, and winning 9 in a row and then not making the playoffs. :boohoo:

If we finish 10-6, Harrington will get his shot somewhere else. We'll get a draft pick in exchange for him and draft a QB late.

Ricky will be back and playing next year.

Try to keep as many people as possible. We can't keep over hauling the team like this year after year. We will always start out slow, win alot at the end and miss the playoffs.

just enjoy the ride now, it is a loooooooooong offseason guys, we will be fine next year and the next, saban is in control

What do you do with C-Pep then? I could see letting them duke it out for the starting position next year if Harrington is 9-3 or 8-4, but I don't see declaring him a starter outright. Like someone said above, we have too much invested in Culpepper just to get rid of him, or not to start him.

I am enjoying the ride, but you still have to be a bit skeptical right now. I like saban, and think he is a great coach and will lead us to the playoffs and beyond. However, Im worried that its going to be a long while so long as we keep overturning 40% of the roster every year. It will be hard to make progress like that.

I will be depressed if we get all those wins and end up watching the PO's without Miami. That is way in the future. Right now, We need to concentrate on doing something about the offense. They keep showing flashes of coming alive but shoot themselves in the foot.. if they can just get over the hump...... right now though, if they keep up doing what they did today, 10-6 wont happen.
