These are the 11 young players who I have spotlighted as guys who need to stand up and be counted in 2007. I know there may be others but I picked these 11 guys:

FB- Kyle Eckel ...... Has been out of football for a couple years while serving in the military. He was a guy who was a physical throwback and was as tough as nails when he played collegiately at Navy. Some say he is a more mobile version of a young Mike Alstott. We shall see.

WR- Derek Hagan ..... Has the size, speed and can play physical but needs to work on hand placement and catching the ball with consistency.

WR- Marcus Vick ..... Is a pretty good athlete who just needs more reps at WR. If he stays out of trouble he could blossom like other former college QBs turned WR.

G- Joe Toledo ..... Is a big, mobile and athletic guy who is raw. His biggest problem is staying healthy. A good project for Houck to work with.

T- Anthony Alabi ..... Another athletic o-lineman. He's entering his third season so he needs to turn it up a notch and challenge for playing time.

DT- Fred Evans ..... With Traylor possibly being in his last season and the uncertainty with guys like Kevin Carter (cap casualty?), Manny Wright and Wilkinson in 2007, Evans needs to step forward in a hurry. He's a high motor guy who needs to get stronger. An off-season in the weight room should help.

DT- Kevin Vickerson ..... A big tough guy who hasn't done much his first two seasons because of the depth on the Dolphins d-line. Entering his third season he needs to start pushing for playing time.

DT- Rod Wright ..... Needs a coach who will light a fire under him so he plays to his potential. He has all the tools and could play either DE or DT. He is the most intriguing of all the young d-linemen since he was considered a 1st round pick at one time.

DT- Manny Wright ..... The biggest question is, will he ever return to play for the Dolphins? If he does and has his depression problems under control and stays in shape he has the ability to develop into a dominant force. But right now there are simply too many question marks with him.

CB- Shirdonya Mitchell ..... Would've been a 1st day pick in the draft, the year he was eligible had he not suffered a knee injury. Ran 4.3's in the 40 prior to injury and is a good athlete.

S- Jason Allen ..... Needs to take command of the starting free safety job in 2007 and justify his 1st round selection. Will be fun to see how he is after a year under his belt.

It's a little unrealistic to expect all of those players to stay on the roster, much less step up. Especially in the instance of Shirdonya Mitchell, who isnt on the roster anymore.

Derek Hagan? Joe Toledo? Rodrique Wright? Fred Evans? Those look like potential winners. Some of the others? Not so much.

I didn't say that all of them WOULD step up. I just spotlighted those 11 young guys as guys that NEED to step up. It will be fun to see how all the young guys progress in training camp next season.

I sure as heck hope so...With the cap the way it is we need a few of these guys to come in and play.

Hagen will be fine IMO, I think his problmes are due to rookie jitters.
Allen has gotten playing time and he's done alright.
I have a feeling Rod Wright will be a steal, if it wasn't for his messed up arm He would have been gone in the first day.
Toledo looked very impressive in Training camp and in Preseason.
I don't know much about Eckel and Mitchell but at last they would give us depth, the same goes for Alabi.
Vick has talent. but he's got some issues.
Manny has talent, but he also his own personal problems.

Vick is an enigma .... hopefully, we will see some contribution out of him next year .... but it does make you wonder why we are still auditioning WRs - if we are confident in what Vick could truly bring to the table ...

WRT Alabi, Toledo .... we do need something from both of these two ... we don't need career backups without legitmate playing time under their belts .... either step up - or move out ....

M. Wright might never see a football field again, so anything - if anything would be a bonus ....

Vickerson might be done as a PHIN as well .... he hasn't shown anything significant -- but some other team might be willing to offer a nice contract this offseason ....

I believe Evans, R. Wright & Allen will be solid contributors next season ... and they will be given the chance ....

What I would like to see the most is to trade CC to ATL for a 1 / 2 rd pick in this draft .... same with McMicheal [of course, not to ATL] for a 2 / 3 rd pick ... then have: 1 - 1st; 2 - 2nd; 2 - 3d round picks to potentially get some real value out of this draft !! It would come at a cost, but I believe one we could overcome quickly ....

But he is still on the PS. Which, in the Saban era, is a good thing.

Another person who needs to step up (on the PS) is Fred Gibson. I like what I saw out of him during the pre-season.

I think some of them will be fighting just to have roster spots bro. With free agency, and the draft, and existing vets, if some of them don't rise to the top, they could be squeezed out. Let's hope that competition brings the best out of them.

You don't trade those guys unless you know Hagan and Peele are ready to step up. It's too easy to get caught up in the lure of having a lot of draft picks. Draft a bust or two with those picks and you've weakened your team instead of helped it. I'd guarantee you that if it were up to Tom Brady he's gladly return the first round pick to Seattle and get Deion Branch back.

Rookie Jitters my ***. This is a problem that started bubbling over at the Senior Bowl. He needs to figure out a way to get it done, and keep his drops to a minimum.

Nice Post Bro!

CB- Travis Daniels Add him to the list, this was a dissapointing year for him. Yea he was injured, but his play this year has been very quiet. Would love for him to turn into that Surtain kind of player next year.

This list is bogus. Why isn't Travis Daniels there? Or other guys that actually have a shot at playing for this team.

i cant see travis daniels or manny wright really contributing, but i hope they will.
