I was watching Fox Sports with the list show run by Summer Sanders....they had the 1972 Dolphins listed as the 2ND best team ever,,,and had the 1985 Chicago Bears listed as the best team ever....what the hell??? Don't they
remember who beat the Bears in the 1985 season...than Fat Jim Belushi had
the nerve to say his 85 Bears was the best of all time. What crap. :yell: :fire:

Well, if the 1985 Bears are the greatest team of all time and the 1985 Bear defense is one of the greatest defenses of all time then that must mean that Dan Marino is clearly the greatest quarterback of all time because he was the only qb ever to beat them!

not to take anything away from our great team of 72' but da bears were pretty darn good that year its a toss up but i would go with the fins both were great though

Yeah, I remember this crap too...If the '72 fins would have come out with a rap video a week or two before their Super Bowl announcing their greatness before they actually won something, they may have generated enough hype to be considered #1 all-time. But alas, rap video were not yet discovered and Shula's teams always seemed to have a little bit more class than Ditka's....

How can you be any better then undefeated??? Is there a "super duper undefeated"??
I don't know who said that the Bears were the best ever but if one team plays 16 games and wins them all and the other team plays 16 games and loses 1 then common sesnse tells you the team that didn't lose would have to be the best...it's third grade logic, I guess the guy that picked the Bears didn't graduate the third grade!!

two points.

1st: Im glad they didnt say 2004 pats were the best

2nd and more serious: I see where they are coming from. 72 fins played at a time where competition was considered less fierce. We still kicked (explitevly deleted) but it was against easier foes. The bears beat some good teams, and although they lost 1 game, they did have more wins in all because when the dolphins played there were only 14 game seasons. So that im sure was there argument.

Personally I think if you have the best record in the league you should be considered the best. Example: 72 fins, and 96 bulls (Both my teams of course).

:rofl3: ....Niiiice.
I too don't see how a team that went undefeated cannot be considered the greatest "team" of all-time. Oh well....we all know who the best team of all-time was...screw fox/espn or whoever. :D

The 1973 Dolphins were actually a better team than the 1972 Dolphins, according to most of the players and coaches. But since the discussion is about the '72 Dolphins and '85 Bears it comes down to one key point: the '72 Dolphins were PERFECT (the '85 Bears were not).

That's actually pretty impressive.
The 72 Phins are regularly listed below many other teams as well on best ever lists. They have never gotten much respect.

Yeah, we never do get the respect we deserve. That bears team for one year only is one that doesnt bother me as much as some of the other teams the media says were better than us. Lets just remember that 72 team was sandwhiched around two super bowl appearances and just missing a fourth. The bears on the other hand quickly faded into oblivion
