One of the players who should be in the mix for the Dolphins' pick at No. 8 is UCLA outside linebacker Myles Jack. But Jack is coming off knee surgery at UCLA, and team doctors must be comfortable that his knee is sound.

Draftinsider.net's Tony Pauline, who does good work, writes that "NFL decision makers are referring to Jack as a rare athlete, a label not often thrown around. They love his athleticism, intensity and versatility to play three downs in a variety of schemes. They also point to the four touchdowns he scored when lined up at running back. When I mentioned my concern about his size, the name of Shaq Thompson, the Panthers first round pick in 2015, was brought up. It was also pointed out Jack is head and shoulders a better prospect than Thompson."

Pauline said in his conversations with NFL executives, the players getting the most votes for the first five picks are Mississippi offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil at No. 1; FSU defensive back Jalen Ramsey at No. 2; Cal QB Jared Goff at No. 3; Jack at No. 4; and Ohio State defensive end Joey Bosa at No. 5.

ESPN's Mel Kiper and Todd McShay both have Bosa going No. 1 and Jack available when Miami picks.

### The Wall Street Journal did a story on homes of NFL players and determined that Ndamukong Suh bought the most expensive home of any NFL player in the past year, paying $7.5 million.

The home, in Fort Lauderdale, includes six bedrooms, seven bathrooms and two half-baths, 11,142 square feet, soaring ceilings, walls of glass, maid's quarters, a game room, a fitness center, and a rooftop entertainment space --- accessible by elevator --- decked with artificial grass, patio furniture and a flat-screen TV.

When asked at the end of the season why the Dolphins defense struggled, Suh declined to answer, saying he would need to look at tape of every game. Perhaps Suh can do that in the home's 11-seat home theater.

### In addition to the many obvious ways the Dolphins can create more than $44 million in cap space (restructuring Suh; cutting Quinton Coples and Greg Jennings; cutting or restructuring Jordan Cameron, etc), cap guru Joel Corry notes Miami also is getting a credit of $2.17 million because of unearned incentives from Kelvin Sheppard and Louis Delmas. Those figures were counting against the cap...

Yet another guard option became available to Miami today with the Giants cutting Geoff Schwartz. Pro Football Focus rated him 20th among all guards last season, but he missed five games with a broken leg this past season after missing 14 the previous year. But he's only 29 and effective when healthy.

I would be very happy with Miles Jack if he makes it to #8. That would be an excellent start to getting faster and more productive at the linebacker position.

interesting read...off the los olbs usually don't go in the top 10...so I would think we should have a great shot at jack...unless the class just doesn't have top shelf talent depth (which I'm starting to question a little) ...we need qbs to drive it

jacks a much better pure lb prospect than shaq Thompson...talking about a different level in terms of feel for lb and readiness to play every down

Its such a shame that Smith got hurt, especialy if Jack becomes are true #1 target.

boy is jelani Jenkins gonna be pissed if Miami takes jack at 8...like calling his agent and asking for a trade pissed I bet...no way I see him being ok with a nickel and sub lb role going into a contract year

if we take jack he's starting at wolb and playing every down...no ifs ands or buts about it...anything less is moronic

you better sell Jenkins on this teams gonna play an awful lot in the nickel to get him to buy in I bet...and if you don't fix mike you aren't gonna be in nickel a lot when teams attack your base lb play and scheme to get your base lb core on the field and exploit it...unless you got a wall in the front 4 (which teams will still use misdirection against to offset)

Jack won't make it to 8.....their top 5 agrees with mine except I think it will be Wentz...not Goff who goes top 5.

Can you move Jenkins inside?

not something I would consider...honestly if we took jack and again he's an olb they don't usually go top 10 no matter how highly thought of they are unless the class cant validate top 10 grades at other positions in most classes if Jenkins balked I would look to trade him during the draft process pick up a mid rounder and role with Hewitt as the backup wolb and maybe nickel 2nd lb role

but all we would be doing is getting better at wolb and not fixing our major problem area in the lb core...which is mike...and will be til they do something about it or josephs scheme is so freaking ridiculous it can be hidden (which would likely mean the front 4 is a wall of granite)

we can only hide our base lb play as it stands if the front 4 is straight up stellar at the poa and assignment wise with contain etc...

the plan has to be with a jack here to get Miami in base as much as possible which the sticks will dictate...

one thing about jelani Jenkins is he plays contain vs misdirection very poorly...he takes the bait A LOT

jack will play it better than that...he's got a better feel for that aspect of the position and he's a more explosive range athlete to help make up for when he's overaggressive...I wouldn't expect as many false steps with jack...and false steps are the difference in the ball going right by the lb level or not

Jenkins is in no place to chirp about playing time. I think Jenkins should have to compete with Hewitt this summer for a starting job. Jenkins has been okay, but nothing special.

The note about Schwartz...Schwartz would be a good signing if Miami signed another solid guard, but not if he's the guard brought in to help fix the offensive line. Signing Schwartz along with another top guard would be great, though.

If Jack is the pick do you think we keep Dion Jordan to possibly play SAM?

Then by that same token Tannehill should have to compete with another quarterback for the starting job. Jenkins was solid when not surrounded with complete dog**** for teammates on defense.
