With the new PAT rules this year I think we should really consider going for 2 points quite a bit this year. I really don't trust Sturgis at all and expect him to miss a late 4th quarter game tying extra point at some point now. I really think we will see a lot of 8, 16,24, etc scores this year from teams opting to do that. In my opinion this is a big change to the strategy of football. I feel like having a QB like Tanny who is a great passer and can run would help in possible 2 point tries.

I wouldn't worry too much, he's never missed a field goal of 33 yards or less. I'm not saying he'll never miss one, but all kickers have a greater chance of missing an extra point now.

I hate this ****ing rule change .

Im completely against it .

I'm not sure about a 33-yard extra point, but something had to be done with the way it was. Kickers were making 99.3 % of the extra points, it was about as automatic as it gets. They might as well have just said you get 6 points for a touchdown and then have a choice of going for two points or just being given another point. I think I read last year there were 1,200 kicked extra points in the NFL and only eight misses. Not worth risking injuries for something so automatic.

It was like that way for years and years .

I like the idea of ..... 1 automatic ... Or risk it for 2 . Simple is easier .

Also for the sport , it's another little detail you have to explain to that guy or girl who don't " understand " the game .

That's not important though ..... I'm just a " if it ain't broke don't fix it " type of guy I guess .

Yep. The extra point was as outdated a sports mechanic as there was. It was irrelevant. Either make a td 7 points or revamp it. The extra point was pointless. See what I did there?

The extra point was of no use . It should have been revamped a long time ago .

See what I did there ? :idk:

Lol ;)

This PAT rule change is the dumbest thing ever. One, PAT from 33 looks queer af. Two, its 1 point after TD, it's supposed to be automatic not more difficult. Three, as A Rodgers said, it puts players at more risk out there and for what, 1 point that is supposed to be automatic. Four, it makes it more likely that two fieldg goals will equal to a TD plus PAT because PAT is more difficult., when the league is about safety, scoring.
This rule change makes no sense, it is a prank.

It's stupid because stop changing the sport we love that's why .

****ing liked it just the way it was

As far as Sturgis, I am watching Graham Gano for the Panther and the Bills' kicker. We have nothing close to that. Our kicking situation is unacceptable and T&H have failed on this front so far.

I don't see teams going for 2 anymore now than they did before. Every kicker in the NFL should be able to convert from 33 yards. Consistently.
I think the 2 point conversion will be used as it has always been used.
When one point is not enough to win or tie the ball game. Or to make the score more conducive to winning the ball game.
The new rule means little if anything IMO.

Now, since we have Sturgis, we might just...............

It doesn't bother me either way. But i'm not really sure how people think this is putting people at more risk of injury. they are kicking the ball at the same speed and time as if the ball was on the 2yd line.

It makes things more exciting, however, there is going to be a game that should go into OT, that instead, was a loss because the extra point was missed, that will raise this controversy.

Personally I like the approach over the new OT rules. I ****ing hate the new Brett Favre overtime rule. It should remain sudden death no matter the circumstance. You had 4 quarters to win a football game, don't draw it out any more than it needs to be. I think he new and atrocious OT rules put players at far more of a risk than any other recent changes.
