Lets not forget that he went to the pro-bowl running Linehans offnse in Minny. Last year he fell off a bit learning a new system under a new OC. He is now coming here where Saban has said that he is going to continue to use the Linehan system from last year with a few tweaks from Mularkey. The key here is that he will be back in a system he was comfortable with and will be easy to learn. Positive point #1. Second of all, about the knee. I have 2 comparisons. Willis McGahee and Pennington. While Willis is now a starting RB after a major knee injury Chad may be done from a shoulder injury. Even if DC comes back with only 50% of his old mobility that is still twice as much as Marino ever had and Pepper still has a very healthy arm and shoulder. I think the risk is much better that he still throws better than Brees will. A quarterback can get by with a knee brace and healthy arm better than with a wonky shoulder. I think Pepper will do just fine here once he gets back on the field.

Well according to reports it is a 12 month recovery so that would mean October but if rehab goes really well maybe sometime in Sept. The question is who plays in the interim.

Well most reports have Daunte FAR ahead of rehab schedule, one even used the words 'Daunte is recovering freakishly well' and those words came from a doctors mouth

Id say he will be ready between august and mid october hopefully

not to mention that he continues the line of us signing qbs with food names: Sage, Lemon, Culpepper. :)

Here's the deal about Culpepper. We may not have him at the beginning of the season, which will be a HUGE blow. BUT, when we do get him back he is going to be amazing. I have always believed that if I had the chance to start a team I would build it around Daunte, and it looks like thats what Saban is looking to do. Daunte is only 28 years old, leaving him with a long time to build a legacy in Miami. I was one of the many who wanted Brees instead of Culpepper, but now that we have officially signed Culpepper I couldn't be more excited. We haven't had a QB since Marino, and its time to change that.

Daunte, I'm glad to have you in Miami!!

2 positive things about Culpepper

1) He's not Jay "Judas" Fiedler
2) He's not Gus "missed again" Frerotte

Other than that, we'll just have to wait and see. When he plays good, he's very good. I think he'll be in a good position to not have to do it all with Ronnie and hopefully Ricky, plus good targets at TE and WR. We may add another weapon or two yet. Hopefully our OL will continue to improve upon last year, then they will be at minimum, solid. Good offensive coaching and a no B.S. head coach won't hurt either. Plus he's home and may even have a chip on his shoulder with the mess he left behind in Minny. I like his chances, but as I said, we'll see.

let's hope for the best.
THEN THERE is the whole "chemistry" bit that he will need time with teamates on the field. i still think we'll be a year or two away....but we are really improved now.

Can you imagine Daunte getting too carried away w/o Taylor or Carter putting him in his place?

We haven't signed him yet. He has to pass the exam, then he will need t odo some restructuring (I hear).

We have now. The numbers I have seen seem like we got a steal. We didn't overpay. More money available to add to the team. I like it. I'm sure he'll want to restructure if he plays lights out. But that will be a nice problem to have.
