IMO,
Does anyone else believe that we are set with Cleo Lemon as our #2 QB?

Here's my opinion of what might be........

Daunte, free pass last year because of injury
Joey, restructuring or trade in the works

If we aquire Trent Green, Joey and/or Daunte is history
If we draft Brady Quinn, Joey and/or Daunte is history and Brady is the #3 QB, sits for the year, like Carson Palmer did in Cincinnati.

#1 QB Trent Green/Daunte Culpepper/Joey Harrington
#2 QB Cleo Lemon
#3 QB Brady Quinn/or drafted QB

fire away

With Lemon a RFA, I don't think anything is set with our QBs. If someone thinks Lemon is worth the 2nd round tender, he may be gone. Thus we'll be looking for another QB to take his place.

Harrington will probably be released on Monday or Tuesday, before his roster bonus kicks in.

Huard signed a backup QB contract and I think Trent Green will stay in KC as the starter.

If Brady Quinn shows enough at Notre Dame's Pro Day tomorrow, then I'm all for him coming here.

In other words, our QB situation is still cloudy at best right now.

If someone is willing to give us a 2nd. for Cleo, I'd say thank you. I don't see it happening though.

I agree with you on our QB situation, very cloudy at best. If, and if is the key word here, we can aquire Trent Green and draft Brady Quinn, I think both Joey and Daunte are history.

Guys, if we draft Quinn, he will automatically be AT LEAST #2. A first round QB doesn't go to #3 on your depth chart. He would easily be #2 with the starter being on a short leash.

You're right about Quinn, no way does he become our #3 qb under any scenario. Of course, that's if he's available and if we take him.

Please, no Trent Green. We don't need another washed up QB waiting for his next concussion. Seriously, he's a system QB. He has great protection, and has for many years there. I think we'll be better off waiting to see how CPep does this season. If Mueller acquires extra picks, I see him going after a mid-late round prospect that can sit behind Lemon and CPep for a couple of years.

We paid too much to give up on CPep when our own staff allowed him to return before he was really ready....

1 - Cleo (only utill Quinn is ready)
2 - Brady Quinn (or Drew Stanton 2nd rd if no Quinn)
3 - anybody

How many snaps did Carson Palmer take his rookie year?:D

I agree Trent Green is a system QB and Daunte deserves a 2nd chance (because of the injury) I do believe that Trent Green is a better player than both Daunte and Joey, he's really had nothing more than Tony G to throw to in KC, but he does have a great ground game to fall back on. That's a tough one.

Probable scenario. However, I could the see the any of the following happen. DC is the starter or will be released. Harrington could be the starter or backup. Lemon isn't necessarily safe, he could get bumped out if we get Green and keep Harrington as the backup.

That doesn't matter. He wasn't the #3 on the depth chart. And that's the only point I'm trying to make. Folks are putting Quinn (assuming we pick him) at #3 on the depth chart. Going into camp, if we draft him, he will be named #3. But by the time the season starts, he will be at least #2.

I don't think anything is a lock right now at the QB position. I think with the tender on Lemon, it signals that we definately will retain him (as I don't see a team giving up a 2nd for him, but if they did in this year's draft, I'd take it). So with that said, I think anyone could be the #1, #2, or #3 at this point. Sit tight, I think it's going to get interesting over the next month or two with the QB position.

Are you sure he wasn't the 3rd? You could be right, but I just don't remember him being the 2nd QB that year.

The only thing I am pretty confident will hapen is Harrington being released!

Other then that I hope Cpep gets a second chance or we find a major upgrade in our QB that will stabalize the position for awhile!

FWIW:
If Cam follow Norv Turners' player development handbook. If Brady Quinn is drafted at 9 he'll be starting day one. See Troy Aikmen and Heath Schuler.

Good, bad, or indifferent....
